So whose bike didn't start this morning?

Are you guys only adjusting the clutch at the lever or are you adjusting it down at the clutch end? Often misconception is that the top end is the only place to adjust it. Over the years I've experienced many bikes have multiple adjustments other than just at the lever side. A bandit for example has 3... inline in the cable, at the clutch on the crank case and a further one behind a round bung on the crank case... I think you'll find the same with the SV too!

Cheers Neil! I'll check this out next time. Usually I just adjust at the clutch inbetween servicing.

Yeah both in the clutch casing and the lever. Both as tight as they can possibly go without risking safety of them coming loose. There are only two adjusters that I am aware of on the SV. I will have a tinker this weekend :)

After my idiotic attempt to adjust the clutch to get rid of the excessive freeplay (Making it twice as bad) the bike starts, but as soon as its in gear it just starts rolling because the clutch, even though I am pulling it all the way in, Is still at biting point. I am going to get a new cable installed next week :)

Haha I did exactly the same almost due to the free play. Worked out well in the sense I can two finger clutch now however I discovered this week whilst trying to bump start my bike that even with the clutch pulled fully in, it's rubbing; not enough to move the bike but enough to make pushing it a pain in the ass.

you sure it's the clutch & not the brakes that are dragging? not sure if you are aware of this (if you are i'm making a fool of myself) but if you're not you can check it like this: if it's in neutral & it still is hard to push then it's the brakes. otherwise you are correct & the clutch is still in the friction zone. ;-)
