Snow Covered Skyway

My brother and I did a little dispersed camping off of the Cherohala Skyway. Little did we know the dirt roads would turn to snow as we reached the top. Super sketchy but made for a good trip.

Yeah it can get snowy up high in the Smokies for certain. I've been in Maggie Valley in the winter where it wasn't bad outside temperature wise, but go up into the Smokies and it's all white. They even close roads down there this time of year due to snow!

it really wasn’t that bad as far as camping goes. A good tent and a 0° sleeping bag does wonders.

Yep. Had thermals on and stayed warm all day.

Yeah, I’ve crossed the mountain once before into Maggie Valley from Pigeon Forge, TN and there was snow but the roads had been salted so they were clear. I expected the Cherohala to be the same once we got to the top but as you can tell they don’t treat this road.

Good stuff. Last time I was out on bike, it was just a bit of frost and I had to put a hoody on over my leathers.
