Self balancing bike

Looks great, would love to see it go round a bend though... the only shot of it moving was at the end of the review and it was a straight line. I'd be up for one of those though. :)

Can't get iPlayer outside of the UK mate

I can't tell where people are from on Tapatalk! I assumed that because Howler couldn't see the video it was restricted to US territories only :-)

Whenever a technician says"...sort of thing..." it scares me. Does he really know what he's talking about? Do they no anything about editing?

Just watched the second one... interesting. An app for stunting!!! Looks like they have a bit of work left to do, but pretty cool.

In the BBC show they have a SUV yanking it sidewards a bunch of times and it stays level the whole time. It looks pretty impressive. The guy doing the talking who says: "sort of" is the designer not the technician, I don't expect him to know how the flippin' thing works, he's just piping his dream at the techies. :)

Actually check this clip out!

The gyroscopes are doing their job, but their car impact animation is probably crap. Yanking it from the wheels is different that smashing into the side of it. And if it comes apart, I wonder what happens to the gyroscope mass spinning at a hundred thousand rpm? Technicalities aside, i think it looks cool.

Well it has impact protecting bars all over it, plus air-bags and seat belt. In another test they show you them shoving it real hard at the top end... also kicking it hard. What would be interesting to see is if it will self level itself from laying on the roof! :P

It would just have to have little feet on the underside to wobble about for just that situation.

looks amazing, works pretty well with those gyro's, the technology is here so it's all just a matter of time before this thing actually starts selling, steering is done by-wire as he said so it means there is no fysical connetion between the steering wheel & the front wheel, the computer will know when it needs to countersteer & when not, i also think i heard it had both front & rear wheel drive's so that would give it amazing acceleration potential as both wheels are powered there is only a very small chance that they both lose traction... & software downloads are so easy & common that you could probably get different settings to make it do a lot of crazy, ordinary or cool things... though i have my doubts on the safety of it.. it may be untippable, it may have reinforced structure & airbags and i can easily understand it is safer than a motorcycle, but will it hold up against a car or a wall? i wouldn't mind seeing to crash-test footage & analysis :-p
all that said, i'd rather stick to my CBR :-p and i find it a bit pricey too, you can get a small car for that money, one that has 2x as much wheels as this little fella :-p

Hang on... your forgetting how gyroscopes work. They try to remain in the same orientation in space. So when the gyroscopes are rotated relative to the bike chassis, the chassis will roll over to keep the gyroscopes level. Countersteering is a method to tip the bike over. You wouldnt use gyroscopes AND countersteering. In fact, if you countersteered left (turned the wheel left) the bike would just turn left without leaning and you would be pressed against the right side of the cabin.
The computer would have to calculate how much to turn the wheel in the direction of the turn to maintain vertical g-forces simply for comfort.

That is pretty cool. Can't see myself ever wanting one though, sort of takes the most fun part of motorcycling out of it!

Still, it is pretty awesome to see what technology can come up with these days with a little creative thinking.

so what you're saying is that the computer will make the vehicle lean into a corner by adjusting the angle of the gyro's? actually starts to make sense now i'm visualizing it... no need to countersteer when you got gyro's... still don't want one though :-p
