is scala rider the best its the only one ive heard of are there any other out there that are as good or better with an equal or lower price

I'm on my second Scala, and I love it. It's loud on the motorway, you can connect to other Scalas really easily, and they're a piece of cake to use. Compared to other Bluetooth headsets, they're not badly priced either.

I mentioned this in another topic about helmet speaks but check this out

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BT-800M-I...34?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item416e4602ca

their older design was based of a scala rider. The price difference tho makes all the others look like rip offs, all this one needs is some better speakers and i cant imagen another bluetooth system beating it.

Battery will last about 5 hours constant music playback and is not bothered by rain, only problem with these are the speakers are crap. Thats a easy fix though

i dont think any headset allows you to directly hook into it but if you place your mic near the speaker it will pick it up. would be a thing of experimenting. iv noticed mines not placed in the same cavity but it does pick it up

5 hours wouldn't make it through half of a ride where I think I'd need a com system. That's a pretty huge problem imo.

Sena makes some awesome headsets, from what I've been told the batteries go 10+ hours, they're sleek, have good speakers, and are easy to use.

I've got some chatterboxes that are awesome too, but the speakers have no bass. They have a feature that I can't find on any other helmet-mounted unit, but I really like. A push-to-talk button. VOX is nice, but it can be a pain in the butt, especially if you're riding with someone who likes to sing along with their music. They're pretty expensive though.

I've also heard some good things about the hand-held type systems that clip to your belt. Biggest problem there is the wires, but those are easy to sort out. They tend to have pretty good range and battery life as well.

well which would you suggest and that hippo is a dirty little sanchez aint he

I Used to have a parrot SK4000 which I loved. It has a remote for the handlebars so you can control it easier, great speakers and I managed to get one for £35 from amazon a while ago. I only stopped using it after I lost the remote. You can still use the phone and music but you cant change track with the music :( There is one on there for £80 ATM, I must have got lucky. A friend of mine has a sena thingy with a jog dial. Swears buy it and he has it for two years and I was tempted to get one at the time but only had a part time job so I didn't want to spend out that much.

I haven't charged my scala since February, I've put around 20 hours of use on it since that charge and it hasn't run out yet! I bought mine because everyone else seems to have them, what's the point in saving £50 but getting a model that isn't compatible with your riding mates!?

Depends on your budget. You can get used Chatterboxes for $100 a pair on ebay sometimes, but they're big and ugly. The Sena pair will run you closer to $300 I think. Whenever I get the money I'm going to buy a pair of Sena's for me and the girlfriend to use.

Which reminds me, I'll be ebaying a boatload of Chatterbox gear soonish if anyone is interested. :D

It seems like no matter how good a product is I'm always going to get the rare shit one that has a defect. Everyone raved about the Drift HD. I got one and it had corrupted files, audio problems and the remote rarely worked.

I got a Scala G4 and it sucks too. I've always heard great things about them. I got a pair and gave one to my cousin. He's never had a problem with the one I gave him but mine fails more often than it works. When it works it's great. I fully charge it and then go out for a ride. Usually at the first stop I'll turn it off. On several different occasions now I wasn't able to turn it back on. The light on the side glows solid. I don't remember if it glows blue or red but its solid and doesn't respond to any of the buttons. You can't even turn it off or reset it. The only thing you can do is wait for the battery to completely drain which sometimes takes days and then recharge it.

Another thing that annoys me is since upgrading to an iPhone 5 I can't make calls. I used to be able to push the center button to activate the voice recognition on my phone and dial out so now I have to pull over and initiate the call on my phone. What's the point of that? I've searched all over for firmware updates or any info that would fix either problem and found nothing.

Soon I'm going to have to get a new helmet so I decided I'll wait to replace the Scala. I'm most likely going to get a Sena. I have a few friends that have both the Scala and the Sena. The Sena owners have mostly had Scalas and say they like the Senas better. I'm sure I'll get one from a bad batch though. Sometimes I think there is a God up there and he's a bastard.

My wife and I use the Sena SMH-10's. They work great, never completely drained the battery in all-day rides, super-easy pairing. We stream music from our ipods and do bike-to-bike intercom, never tried to pair the phone, but you could do it if wanted. The jog-dial on the Sena makes it very easy to use, no memorizing any button operations or fumbling with it while moving. They have optional ear-bud hook-ups if you want optimum sound quality and a non-boom mic option as well. I wear ear plugs and volume has never been a problem. Sena has has regular firmware updates that are easily downloaded via USB, these updates are driven by customer requests.
