Recording Strategy?

So what are your strategies to recording?

Do you think of a topic, get on the bike, and start talking?

Do you just hit the record button and record the entire ride and film all the retards that almost kill you?

Combination of both?

Let me know! I'm always trying to figure out new ways to vlog!

The reason I ask is because I find it somewhat difficult to always come up with new ideas to talk about without getting too repetitive in my content. Thanks for the feedback!

I do a combination of both. I also record my racing so that helps to diversify the type of content on my channel as well.

Well, with all my .12 year of experience motovlogging and all 11.00 subscribers I will give you all I know! I've done topical rants, I've done product reviews, I've told about myself and done some current event type stuff. My problem with the current event stuff was it is talked about to death before I had time to edit and there is now more I want to add so I need to do a part 2.

Be who you are and of people like you then they will keep checking you out. So some series, do some
Cell phone or nose picker checks, do some local topics and make some friends at local events and bike establishments.

I have vintage bike night lined up this week and a visit to a local motorcycle salvage yard. If nothing else, you can barter for some
Good prices for a quick 10-20 second ad. I just had a guy take 1/2 off a job he did for me just for a shout out! $50 now moved into the kids educational fund...

Hope this gives some
Inspiration!

If I want to talk about a specific subject, then I have to have a good idea what I'm going to say before I start, otherwise it just becomes a ramble that will require a lot of editing to make it watchable and I'll probably miss some points that I was going to make.
It doesn't come naturally to me to talk to myself while I'm riding. I 'think it' rather than 'say it' if it's not pre-planned, which is not ideal for a motovlogger :)

I get on the bike, mumble to myself, try to think of this cool topic I dreamed up the night before, then can't fuckin' remember it and give up. Then I see some crazy shit or watch a driver do something stupid and say "Hey! I found a topic!" Later when I'm not on my motorcycle I remember what I was about to record in the first place. ADHD is hell.

I dont like recording traffic but I feel like if I dont I might miss something cool.. so far my fav is to get out of the city a bit then start talking to the camera. I am a bit of a spectacle with my bike and gear setup so people stare hard at stop lights a lot. I still have a hard time talking to myself in front of them, you can become too self conscious with the camera and traffic and all that, not focused on riding enough.

I tend to choose an interesting destination, then think of a topic to discuss on the ride there. It's been tricky keeping the videos short enough though.

I just record all the time. A lot of footage just gets deleted. It allows you to catch things that happen in the world and if I think of a topic while riding all I have to do is start talking without worrying about turning on the camera and losing my train of thought.

Today I was sitting at a red light and I look over at the car next to me and there was this guy picking his nose completely oblivious I was staring at him.. And I mean he was digging for some lost treasure or something lol! I'm so bummed I didn't have my camera with me, that would've been freaking hilarious!!

Both. Sometimes I have a topic and sometimes I pick a cool spot and just ride. What sux is when I record something and then forget to mention something then I want to go out and re record the whole thing.

While I am just getting started ( only one video and a few test videos under my belt ) my strategy is to have a topic I want to talk about I usually already have an inner monologue going on that topic anyway so then I'll just go out and record and hope I get everything out I wanted to say.

I'd say go with what feels right for you. The best motovlogs seem to be the ones that truly reflect the riders personality.

I've been trying to come up with a topic as the week progresses. Then I get on the bike and end up just crapping on and completely forgetting about the topic.

Guess I should pay more attention to what I'm saying. Might make things more entertaining and easier to edit if I just ramble for 5 mins and move on.
