Rear Ended!

Had a delightful trip to work this morning, sat waiting at traffic lights when I suddenly get bumped forwards as a taxi rear ends me. Pull over and he is nice and apologetic enough, says his foot got caught under the clutch.

Anyway, no apparent damage, I think he hit my rear tyre before anything else, but am getting it inspected by Honda on Saturday just to be safe, as it only has 2600 miles on the clock!! Great start to the day!

Good thing there was no visible damage, Im sure you would have noticed if the rim was bent as you rode the rest of the way.

My bike got written off from a mild rear shunt.

How come it was written off? What was it which was damaged?

Frame/subframe damage.

Ah I see! Luckily the height of my rear subframe etc. Was higher than the bumper, so it only came in contact with my tyre. Gonna see what Honda say though, he admits he was in fault completely, and will pay repair fees.

I did in my rear end incident.

No I don't think I did, therefore there wasn't as much of the shock for the bike to absorb. Anyways, i'll let you lot know what Honda say! Had the bike on the paddock last night, wheel seems nice and true, not even a scratch anywhere seemingly, but best to be safe!

Just be prepared for the worst. I doubt you will have any damage but if it's a new bike and you have anything that you may not know about, it may get written off due to the cost of replacement. You're swing arm could have been moved a few mm, unless you're ragging it or on a track, you may not notice.

Sounds like you should be alright though

I haven't ever had this happen but I worry about it all the time. People ask me why I don't ride to work ore often and honestly it's because I worry about all the non-aware drivers here.

Lucky you are not hurt and hopefully the bike checks out fine, seems like not a huge impact more like a bump.
