Polarised Sunglasses

So I've recently started using contact lenses, which means I can use normal sunglasses again which I haven't done since before I started riding bikes.

I've got a half decent pair of polarised wraparounds that without any visor are as lovely as I remember them to be, as soon as I put my tinted visor down yesterday though, all surfaces with differing reflective abilities became different degrees of rainbow, especially shiny cars. Suffice to say it was a bit distracting. I've not tried the glasses with my clear visor yet, but judging by the way it appeared it's probably down to the refraction through my visor, rather than the actual tinting.

Has anybody else found this with polarised sunglasses and is there any way of reducing the effect? Or is it a case of getting some bog standard sunglasses for biking?

My brother is a lab tech for an optometrist. I had him make some prescription sunglasses for me. They're awesome. They're almost like goggle because they have a soft rubber gasket that rests against my face. It keeps wind out and also keeps them from sliding around on my face. He suggested polarized lenses and said they would make things more clear and vivid. I tried them and they're awesome.

I hopped on my bike to take a week long trip. After the sun was out I stopped and put on my new fancy glasses. Immediately I got the distortion that you're talking about. I also can't see my digital speedometer unless I tilt my head to the side. I only went a few miles before the rainbow effect started bothering me and I had to take them off. I haven't tried them with my clear visor. I don't even think I've taken them out of my tank bag since the trip. Now that I'm reminded that I have them I may try them with my clear visor. I love the way things look with polarized lenses. Everything is so vibrant and sharp.
