Please Help... Audio Issue

I am currently using Video Pad on my Macbook (probably not the best software). I was having issues with my videos only coming out of one speaker so I invested in a stereo mic. Now that I have uploaded a video with the new mic, the problem still persists. What am I doing wrong? I am using a GoPro Hero 4 Silver. Any help is greatly appreciated. If it means I need to purchase new software to fix the problem, at least I know.

i was told to try audacity but every time i try to add my video file hoping that it will at least import the audio from it, nothing happens.

If you play back the raw footage, do you get both channels that way?

You may also have the option to set the audio to mono in your video editor.

Raw footage is so in mono. I don't see an option to make it stereo

A stereo mic won't necessarily sound stereo, main thing is you get both channels raw, stereo or otherwise. Also try it in another player.

Look at your audio options in the editor, try setting it to mono or mixed mono.

I think the GoPro also has a setting to record in mono/stereo that you may want to check out.
