No longer getting comment notifications

Ok so I know we all hate the G+ integration forced on us but up until recently it didn't bother me so much. I think it actually has the potential to be beneficial for content creators.

One problem I can't seem to get around though is since G+ was forced on us I no longer get email notices when people comment on my videos. I've always tried to at least respond to all comments that include a question or that I feel need a response but now I don't know when people are commenting. Is there a checkbox somewhere that I need to check? I've been out of the game for a while but I really want to get back into it this year and I want to be able to see when people comment.

I use the little bell (end) up the top right of my YT screen - it tells me when a comment has been made on one of my vids.
Sadly, if more than one comment made on a particular vid since last checked, I then have to navigate all the way to Video Manager, then sort by
"latest" instead of the moronic "top comments" default, then you can see which you haven't replied to yet.
I do get email notifications, but for a while I didn't, no rhyme or reason to it.
There may be something you haven't done in linking your YT to your GarglePuss - I wish I could advise, but when I went through the process
it was so random and counter-intuitive that I think I erased any useful memory of it

I get some, but probably not even half. I still have to manually go through it all to see who's vid's I have not seen, and see if anyone left a comment for me. From my standpoint, Google pretty much crippled YouTube for me.

I don't know what happens when there's more than 1 comment on a video but I get this kind of notifications on my gmail account every time someone comments.

I think I figured out my problem. I haven't uploaded a video since the G+ fiasco and notifications don't work with the older videos. I'll have to upload one soon and test my theory. I hate Google!
