You sure you don't want a DRZ400? :)

I thought about, quite seriously and then I had a go on my mates VFR400 and was hooked instantly so want something along the same lines! Loving the look of that Gixxer 400

GPZ500 i found to be solid as a rock, but found the engine, and whole bike generally became dull very quickly. But plenty of people love them, just not me.

VFR's are the sh*t! Brother had one for his first "big" bike, it was small bit so comfy and fast for a 400! When i pass my full test thats what ill be leaning towards.

Do you MEAN the GPZ500? It seems a bit out of place with the other full-on sportsbikes?

If you're looking at sports 400's then you'd be missing the best: Kawasaki ZXR400. Statistically out of all the 400 sports it is the lightest, fastest, most powerful, cheapest to insure (most are UK spec bikes rather than grey imports) and it's dimensionally the largest - so good if you're over 5ft tall! And it's got 17" wheels, so loads of tyre choice.

Plus parts are cheaper, they look the best, and they're still racing and winning on tracks all over the world!

I had one, and the biggest stand out thing was the awesome handling of the front end. It was like it was on rails, and inspired massive amounts of confidence and lean angles! Nothing I've had since even comes close to that beautiful front end! The suspension is pretty hard, but personally I like that.

In contrast, I have, weirdly, just bought a GPZ500 as a commuter bike. You can get one far cheaper than anything else. Umm... Bear in mind I'm comparing it to my 9r... not much to say... Once I got my knee down on it (which I didn't think was possible) I started enjoying it a lot more.

It's a lot of fun, because it inspires you to be a total hooligan everywhere! I don't think there's much more to it, though, whereas a sports 400 like the ZXR will teach you a Hell of a lot about how to ride well and be fast in the twisties.

I -ing LOVED my ZXR! I bought the GPZ mainly because I won't cry much if it gets trashed or stolen. :?

So ive got my mod 1 booked for end of the month and then mod 2 booked for beginning of next month, and been looking on biketrader for a 400/500 sports bike!

Seen a couple within insurance price range and was wondering if people had any experience with either? Or if anyone could suggest something along the same lines?
