Good afternoon, good evening and good morning depending where you are at. So a pressing issue has been among us whether we know of it or not, here in the US. That Issue is Net Neutrality. Now it would not surprise me if many of you had no idea what Net Neutrality is. I didn't for the longest time until a few years ago where I got a crash course explanation of what it does for us which I'll explain soon. But once again, this issue has surfaced and it is huge! We are talking the end of internet freedom as we know it. So what does this have to do with Net Neutrality? Well here is a brief condensed version of the purpose of Net Neutrality without complicating it. Net Neutrality essentially allows we the consumer to go through any Internet Provider and use the internet freely (by freely I mean there is no form of censorship). No matter where you go or what you do on the internet Internet Providers are to remain unbiased as to what you can access (hence the free internet). With out Net Neutrality Internet Providers have the right to censor what you see and do on the internet. Or they can charge you a service fee to use said service. For example Comcast is in direct competition with Netflix. Netflix has a far more popular streaming basis than Comcast. Without Net Neutrality, Comcast can block or slow down the speed of Netflix which either A: Forces you to use Comcasts streaming service or B: Forces you to pay a fee to Comcast to continue using Netflix. Either way we as the consumer lose. But who is behind all of this? The answer is FCC Chairman Ajit Pai. Former lawyer for Verizon. This man is fighting to take away the free internet and completely get rid of Net Neutrality. Think about it this way. Here in the US the bill of rights clearly states we have the right to free speech and freedom of the press correct? Yes that is correct. By censoring the internet the FCC will have already imposed on our right to free speech and the freedom of the press. A vote will be held on 14 DEC 2017 to abolish Net Neutrality. So why is this even happening and how did it get this far? It's because people are not informed of the issue. And that is why I am writing this post. Is to help spread the truth and awareness of the situation. Of course I encourage you to research this matter on your own. search for your own sources, search the truth and decide for yourself. I've created a video on my own channel again doing my part to raise awareness of the situation. You may watch if you would like, I provided links in the video description of posts and news of the situation in the video description. (I am unable to post links to this page at this current time. You can find my channel with the video on my profile here on motovlog.com) Of course there are many more sources than just the ones I've provided. So what can you do to help the situation? You can call or email your congressman. You can do what I've done and help spread the information. You can go to the FCC homepage and voice your opinion. Every little bit helps whatever it is you do. The worst you can do is nothing. But if that's what you choose then that is your choice. I encourage you all to read up and arm yourselves with the knowledge of the situation. I've never been one for activism but this... this boils my blood especially when it's stepping on our rights as people. I know we all agree and disagree on many different issues and sides of issues but this is one thing I believe we can all agree on. An uncensored internet. So if there is one thing that I will ever ask of any of you who have read this, is to take hold of your right and make your voice known. Let's not let corporations take over the internet!

Yet or not yet, it does rather directly affect all Europeans. Even if such changes will not be made in legislation, of EU countries (and they will, if this passes in US), most bigger content providers are in US.
Say you have contract with network provider A, and there is also network provider B in UK. You wish to use... I don't know - youtube, for motovlogging. Now google is related to networks, in competition with partners of A, and wham. Your usage of youtube is limited. While network B users, who has contract with googles partners, continue happily using youtube. But not for long, because the content will wither.

Exactly the point. I wouldn't think it would affect you guys in the EU. But you're right, if it passes here then why would it not pass anywhere else? I only hope that our representatives and congressmen truly hear us out on this one. We do have powerful allies in this though. Former Chairman Tom Wheeler is with us on this one. I really hope he has enough rope to use.

In addition to some companies being shady on speeds of data, how about the government itself taking it upon theirself to slow one site traffic vs another.

I bet our President will be sure his social media and favorite news sites fly out while anyone that makes him cranky is waiting in traffic.

Just my two bytes worth.

That's exactly it man. It's all of this shady business that's going on with corporations trying to squeeze every last dollar out of everything. And what was our president before, a business man (A poor businessman but a businessman none the less. And a Swindler alongside a Conman). I was actually very worried (I still am) on the eve of the vote. I almost didn't want to see the decision that was made. But I checked the voting and my heart sank, but after I read that I searched up how to get in contact with our states governor. And what I found blew my mind. I disliked politics and politicians for years because it seems most where just money grabbing pricks not in it for the people but for the money. When I searched up Washington states governor to email him my concerns I found this video.
The battle may be lost, but the war is far from over. And this politician is fighting for his people. That's Democracy. And I'm seeing Governors from other Staes proposing similar ideas for keeping Net Neutrality. The Attorney General of NY is filing a Lawsuit against the FCC. So even though the man in the biggest chair may not be listening, our states governors are listening. And they are fighting for us.

It is a shame what we are seeing here. Maybe Europe can take lead since we don't have the capability.

H3H3 hit the real issue on the head, its about porn. Nobody wants to have to ring their provider and ask for access for blacked.com or midgetporn.com

Over here they tried to block many a site and the providers just stood up against it and said no.

In Singapore, the pornography industry just went underground because of censorship and now our entire country is known for being the world's most tech savvy sailors of the high seas, even compared to the Americans who came up with the concept of the internet.

If there's any digital media out there, you sure can bet we know how to source out a completely free and illegal alternative for it, no matter how obscure.

The providers were opposed to blocking? I certainly wish that would be the case here. The providers here are the ones who started this mess.

We had one provider (who happens to be the largest) go against the governments blocking.

Naturally they stood to gain the vast majority of customers, so everyone else just did the same.

I'm sure you could see the same thing happen over there if providers wanted, but it seems there just all after those extra couple of bucks to give you access to blacked.com

It's not about blocking sites, just restricting access in favor of other ones that are willing to pay more for the privilege. That is the core of Net Neutrality.. No favoritism by Internet Service Providers (ISP) to let certain sites load faster and get wider influence (cause the sites paid them) and limit the others.

If you want to put in a porn perspective it's the same.. If Blacked paid for the premium and BangBros didn't then ISP would limit/restrict the traffic for BangBros.. Not necessarily blocking the site.. But end users will get frustrated and end up just rolling with the ones that load faster.. And probably have to pay.. Why? Because Blacked paid and obviously the cost has to be passed onto the end users one way or another.

Or I could be just talking a whole bunch of poop. That's what I understand from Net Neutrality anyway.
