Alot of bikers ride listening to the sound of their machine and alot also listen to ipods/mp3 players. :|

I was wondering what all your take on this is ? :?

I ride at times with some music on when I feel it is safe to do so, a few times I have pulled over and taken the ipod off as i felt uncomfortable or in danger from stupid cage drivers. I never listen to it on full blast and can always hear car horns and emergency services vehicles, so I dont believe it is so much a bad thing rather than a preference ??? ;)

Excatly the reason why I don't, when I listen to music it's my music so I like it so I can't hear (The Outside World) so to speak. I like my music but when riding a bike whats the point, Yes you can feel the engine so can change but I want to hear it.

My boss used to ride with ear plugs, but then when he decided to take them off/ or ride home without them, he hears the bike it sounds like it's going to fall apart. because it blocks out all the noises your bike is telling you.

I thought it was illegal to ride with music on, but turns out it has to be so low that you can hear everything else but your music. Whats the point in that.!?

Yep, I only use ipod during the early morning commute to work,
The roads are always dead and i only have it when i dont forget it haha .

Personally, i love to ride to music, but only when i feel safe & confident to do so.

I've only ever listened to music at night time when riding ( which is more than likely more dangerous ) but night time is my more relaxed ride, i've tried day time but there is no point because i'm not even listening to the music. I'm extremely more focused on traffic, road conditions, people etc.

I do have my music all the way up when riding but thats only because i have a loud exhaust unfortunately so thats the only problem i have!, but it's still about 40% bike 40% music 20% surroundings i can hear so it's all good.

Luckily but unluckily i was riding along the other night listening to my music ( before my bike blew its headgasket ) and i managed to hear a police siren from a good distance over the sound of my engine and music, so i pulled over and let it past, so now i know i'd be able to hear a emergency service vehicle from a distance hopefully! lol.

I don't see any difference in riding a bike and listening to music as driving a car and listening to music.

I love doing both.

I wear ear plugs, because if you don't your hearing will be shafted in later life, I never had a problem hearing traffic noises.

I used to wear headphones, again never had a problem hearing traffic noise.

I now wear ear plugs and have a helmet headset blasting tunes at full volume on the road.

I still heard the siren of the ambulance coming from behind me before any of the cars around me did earlier today.

When I'm riding in heavy urban traffic i'll hit pause otherwise it'll be on pretty much all the time.

I don't listen to music because I like to focus on riding, the sound of the bike and I wear ear plugs. I would be interested in riding with helmet speakers but most probably feel more comfortable without any unnecessary distractions.

Oh yes, whenever I've forgot my earplugs the engine seems to sound like it's ready to let go... hopefully not famous last words :?

Haha, noo I'm sure there not, what system do you have on your BM btw? I heard most R1100's were fitted with Spyder Cans? your's a twin under seat exhaust, (sorry I can't remeber seeing them in your video)

I sometimes used to ride with music, when I was on my ped. But now I wouldn't, as well as wanting to have all my sense focused on riding, I find riding is not as enjoyable with music. I like hearing the engine, the wind blah blah stereotypical blah blah....

My bike is the 'sport-touring' version of the R1100S (sport version) that your boss has, so I'm afraid my bike doesn't get the cool under seat exhausts :(

It still sounds quite nice as it is though ;)

Sometimes I listen to music, but I have the volume low enough to hear the outside world.

It's illegal in California to drive or ride with headphones or ear buds in both ears. Listening to music in one ear irritates me, so I just go without. Besides, I prefer the sound of my bike over music anyway.

I believe it's illegal in TX as well, but meh... Whatever.

If you live in a place where it's illegal I guess you will only get caught if you get pulled over ? It's not like you are wearing big headphones over your helmet haha XD

Want there a bloke who didnt stop for the cops because he could hear them due to having headphones in. I think he was weaving in and out of traffic. Then end up in a short pursuit without realising and when he saw them and stopped they came at him guns drawn.

He also never checked his mirrors for those pesky flashing coloured lights?

Or wondered why everyone was going BSC trying to get out of the cops way?

Guy has more serious issues than just listening to music loudly, he needs some eyes. :)

Interesting some say "unnecessary distraction" are you not mostly all vloggers? Is that not an unnecessary distraction? ;)

He must have been listening to some intense Drum and bass, it was a really bad example of using iPod on a bike, truly and extreme consequence when using them.
