Couldn't really see much there....

Somewhere on YouTube is a vid of a guy "testing" a couple helmets by pounding on them with a pipe... he's comparing a Bell with a Chinese helmet... when he hits the chinese one, the shell splits open and the EPS absorber pops out. Supposedly, this proves the inferiority of that helmet, but the test is anything but scientific... more like "redneck research"

What happens to the shell isn't any indication as to what's happening to your head. If the shell is cracking then it may be that it has done its job of distributing the impact. Several tests were done on EU approved builders' helmets, some cracked, some deformed, some flexed, but the transferred energy to the head was the same in each case.

Totally agreed. Race car bodies are now constructed to compress or fly apart in an impact, taking impact energy away from the driver.

If you know where to watch, you can see stuff


Next one will be my helmet with which i crashed (hard).
So i'm wondering whether or not you can see cracks inside the helmet.

Might do a echo some day, would be interesting to.
Need to find out how the echo works though
