Most Annoying Or Cliché Topic That Should Be Avoided

Remember to Have Fun! - Solar Bear 2020 Champion
I am not an expert but it seems that there is such a wide range of motovlogger skills. I have seen some noobs have some really great insight and some experienced folks really cover something that is about worthless.

Just because someone is in the saddle does not mean a topic/information that can be found just about everywhere else in the world should be made into a vlog.

But how do we know if an idea for a motovlog topic is one that has been played out?

Maybe we need a community list that we can reference?

I will start the ball rolling:
Motovlog covering over and over how important it is to live your life and take risks.

Why is that cliché? Well, if someone is willing to invest some of their time into watching your video, then they likely already are alive and have taken some risks such as ride a motorcycle.

Any other topics to avoid?

"What bike should you start with"
Every American vlogger tends to end up on this topic. Yes, there isn't always a correct answer, but generally most just go for a "find a bike that does what you need it to do" or "ninja 250". Usually with only americans in mind.
European vloggers rarely touch on that topic because for them the rules and education leave them with the skill to handle whatever bike they qualify for (A, A1, A2).

Hmmm While I think some topics are beaten to death like a dead horse I think some new vloggers like to do their own take on some of these topics. I don't have an issue with it honestly. If I don't want to listen to it I won't watch all of the video.

I think the starter bike one is definitely done a lot as well.
On the same page as starter bikes: liter bike discussion.
Motovlog setups. I think most people have seen someone do a video on this. Everyone has different setups, but honestly they're mostly the same. Still, it's content that will probably get viewed by people so why not do it.
What gear do you use? I mean...I have gear, I like my gear...I don't honestly care what you use. Reviews on the other hand I like. Don't just tell me what you use. Tell me how you like it.

That's all I can think of for now.

Great points so far. Keep them coming!

I figure we all have artistic streak in us or else we would not be interested in creating valuable content:

OP's mom hurrdurr. Just kidding R-Rated :)
seriously though some great points above. nother good one would be the countersteering videos. There are just TONS of them!

Seems you people don't understand how related views work on YouTube. There is a reason there are so many videos on some topics. It's because it's what people are looking for.

There are no bad topics for YouTube.

True, it would be wise not to completely avoid the topic, but instead be aware of its genericness and try to add something to it. Find your own voice.

I guess I am looking at the issue from a customer service model. The viewer is tuning in to your video for something unique that no one else has. After a while, if they are not satisfied, then off they go someplace else.

I believe one of the analytics that is measured is watch time in minutes as well as another is average duration.

One piece of information I came across is that your subs will be about 1% of your total views.

So audience retention seems to be important. Then the issue is how to grab and hold that viewer. Covering a topic that everyone else has covered does not seem like the best plan. Your subs may care but what the other 99% of the views?

There is no avoiding covering some of the same topic(s), what makes yours different from mine is how you present yours, with your facts, your style, your opinions, etc.

Sure some may say you are copying off some other superstar vlogger, but so what? If you do have some real and honest thoughts and opinions to share about the topic, roll with it. However if you are just jumping onto the topic because of the hype wagon without anything valid to contribute, just wanna be part of the hype, then I'd probably say no to that.

Agreed. Unless you are talking about current events or personal stuff I'm pretty sure all the other topics have veen covered. I'm always down to hear someone's opinion on an old subject.

while this is actually true, longer term wise it's pretty bad for your business. If all you do is this then you're not gonna generate much of followers, Just views. Viewers that won't come back.

it's like trying to find new cool places but wherever you go is already infested by others.

I will say though if I watch a well put together vlog of a related video I may be inclined to watch more of their stuff. It works for me!

I agree, but if we follow the same idea, then pretty much all the stuff you'd see there would be topics you meet on every other vlogger's channel. Aka. one redone topic or two is fine. But if we follow Lupin's idea, then we should end up with a pretty uninovative business model that drags behind trends while the competition creates the said trends.
Besides, I don't trust Lupin, sure, sure, he's a nice prof and all, but werefolves kinda ruin it for me :D :P

Reddit behaves like we already all do the same topics anyway. Maybe we should live up to that reputation?

I think personality has as much (if not more) to do with it, as the importance of original topics. Just like meeting someone in the street, first impressions...

If I start listening to some whiny guy shouting down his Mic plus swearing at every other car he rides up the back of, I'd be looking for the SEARCH button in YT, well within the first minute of the video.

I could watch 2 different motovloggers talking about exactly the same subject "Is a 600cc bike good to start on!???" and I'd find one video fun and interesting to watch, while the other leaves no lasting impression (the one I left within the first minute). ;)

Another topic I'm tired of, but will probably do myself. Is the "Me and my friends hooning"
Usually introduced with some vague description of when and where, followed by assorted clips from the event. Always including a burnout. Bonus for Groms.
This is also typically american, but can be seen from European vloggers as well, particularly if they are still in their 50/125cc mentality.

ahahaa, seen too many of these. I've considered doing that myself but then again... I don't have any friends :( (that ride and are young enough for that kind of stuff... then again neither am I lol).

Over here, where I am, people kinda tend to hate strangers. you'd get the cops called over in matter of minutes or you'd get into an actual fight with locals. Damn I miss the US with the openminded folks!

I mean...I'm always down for hooning if it's entertaining enough!

For sure, but like with sports, its better to be there and take part in it than to just watch.

Amen to that...although I am bad at hooning. No motard to go off roading and I can't wheelie haha...I need to hone my hooning skills.
