Monetization?

google pays you a small amount of money to post ads on your videos. unless you get a couple thousand views on a video it wont ad up to much.

You get paid when youtube shows an advert in your video and somebody clicks on that ad.
It's ok to monetize since youtube puts ads in your videos, even if you choose not to show ads, so it's get money by becoming a partner or serve ads into your content without getting anything in exchange.
I didn't monetize my channel yet, not enough views so it's pointless. I monetized another channel that I own and for about 1000 clicks I'd get u$s 0.14.

I'd be grateful to anyone that can explain how this works, I don't get it.

But isn't becoming a partner super hard? And don't you have to like have a certain amount of views and have certain content?

from what i read on the monotize set up when i set mine up, it goes like this. (or from how i understand it) so the bigger your channel is makes a big difference in earning potential. smal channel get shit ads that dont bring much of/if any money. big channels get the more expensive ads that pay out more money per click. small channels even when partnered dont make that much either from what ive heard on other forums. so either way you gotta be a big deal to make good money on youtube.

and just my two cents if you're doing this for the money you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

Not any more. It was very selective when they first started the program, but these days it's considerably easier.
