Meeting Subscribers

Had a great experience yesterday, met 2 subscribers for the first time while I was out vlogging! Never expected to be getting spotted at just 103 subs, was pretty awesome! Ended up going for a ride with one and got some pretty decent footage.

Anyone else getting spotted and meeting up with subs?

I had a someone who had commented on one of my videos turn up at work the other day too. Is a very small world when you think about it! :-)

I think it will be a while for me with just 40 subs before I get spotted. I have been spotted in by subs from my other channel though.

Awesome man :) It is! I think leaving business cards for your channel on other bikes really helps, especially to find local subs. One of the guys I met yesterday had one of mine on his bike :p

I've had a few subscribers asking if I'm ever going over there way so we can meet up. My main problem is I have big trust issues with anyone I don't know. Very rare I will talk to anyone other than close family apart from general niceties.

Behind the vlogging camera I can be a totally different person. Confident, funny and talkative.

I suppose in a way I'm afraid to meet subscribers as I can't be the same person when face to face.

is a vlogging persona like a crazy internet fed frankenstein monster that is full of confidence and beans?

.... You should have more faith in yourself dude, yes people like confidence, but it is all bravado and we all feel the same as you describe. Have faith in yourself mate, be the person your camera allows to to be! :-)

I do wonder how certain people are going to be when they aren't behind a keyboard. Luckily the guys I met are decent blokes and we got along.

I think generally if someone likes your content then you're likely to have similar personalities, same interests etc. and get along anyway so being yourself (or your vlogging persona) is much easier

Just be yourself Captain :)

on the topic of online persona.... I am just editing a video and I think I have deleted probably at least double what I have kept. Editing allows us to seem like a talkative and interesting personality, in real life we are just a person, so don't ever worry about living up to people's expectations, if they don't understand we edit the boring bits they are a little special themselves! ;-)

Absolutely spot on mate! Friday's ride got me 30GB of footage. How much did I actually upload? 1.2GB.

96% of that footage was either boring, or me just chatting irrelevant shite.

If you meet subs, easiest thing to do is chat about bikes. It's a subject both of you are likely to be able to talk about for days.

It's a nice feeling, been there, done that, few times. I'm so low profile it's hard for them to spot me unless I'm wearing my helmet or on my bike, otherwise they'll have no clue. I don't really mind not being recognized, that's why I have no care for a face reveal.

Ha. I may have 3 bikes, including the R1. But the vastness of my bike knowledge is that they are all different colours and if I don't put my foot down when I stop then I'm going to fall over!
