The Motorcycle Action Group is holding a series of motorway go slows around the country in protest against EU legislation that could stop us modifying many parts of our bikes, including indicators, drive chains and even potentially rear tyres.

Here is a link to the various protests: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=209 ... 6491&msa=0

What do you guys think? agree it's the right way to protest? Are you going?

Personally i agree with the cause, but potentially not the method of protest.

I'm going on one, I also agree with the cause but I think the method is flawed.

Everybody will be eating Sunday lunch surely?

Re: MAG Anti EU Modifications Legislation Protest 25th Septe

I didnt know they had planned to put in this legislation in England.

If this comes into effect, I'll either ignore it, sell my bike or move to another country.
Not exactly fair for them to do anything like this.

Believe me, this method of protest works.

At least here it does.

Gets people to notice you, the truckers doing this type of thing a few years ago caused chaos.

I'm not going to mod my bike just because they said so, unless they pay for it.

I hear it's mandatory to have ABS? well they can pay and fit it. Why should we all go and fit parts which will/can or cost more than what you paid for the bike.

I paid £1,000 for my Rs I know fitting ABS, New Indicators, A Certian Headlight and a change of my chain will cost alot more than what I paid for it.

I'm in.

Ban mod's not make you do them, and ABS is only on new models, wont be retrofitted

No I meant to mod my bike to have them, I heard if it was road registered after a certain date it will have to have them fitted? Either way they will make you spend money on downgrading your parts or buying items which are legal. (if stock are made ilegal)

does anyone know what Manufacturers are saying about this ?

Re: MAG Anti EU Modifications Legislation Protest 25th Septe

They want to ban bikes over 7 years old from urban areas too.

Re: MAG Anti EU Modifications Legislation Protest 25th Septe

How the hell would I get to work? :P

20-30 years, maybe. 7.. is entirely ridiculous.

Re: MAG Anti EU Modifications Legislation Protest 25th Septe

Looks like we are all going on this event then...

Go for it guys, I'm in France and we do it all the time, we have another protest on the 10th of September. It is all very peaceful, we always guaranty that the emergency services are not affected. It is a very effective way to get your point across, especially when an estimated 100,000 bikers take to the streets.
