Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but you know you can't go on motorways without a full license anyway. The same full license that will let you ride a 250 :P

lol, really? I thought you arent allowed if you have a vehicle that cant go over like 50km/h or so.

Can go on motorway on 125, but I'd never dare it! Just need a full licence.

Can't go on motorway on a 50cc. That's illegal. At least in this country!

But 30mph = 50kmh and 50cc scooters tend to come restricted to 30mph.

Or something...

Lol wow i had a 50cc back in Jan, in which was able to do over 38mph, it was an old one tho.. probably 1980 or older,
and now they restrict scooters... like if 16 year olds would go on highways doing 187 with their scooters or something......

Though yeah the 125 license has been swapped to 250 & 33bhp license a few years now (2002 or 2003 i believe?)

33bhp law came in early 2009 in the UK. About 2 months before I did my test.

Okay, so I've booked my CBT for Tuesday, bad news is; I can't find my license counterpart! Must be around here somewhere though *crosses fingers*

I've decided to go for the CBF125, Honda have a deal that lasts until December, in which I can pay monthly payments of around £65 for 3 years to pay the full amount of around £2,400. I'm very pleased, this means I have a lot left over to spend on proper protective gear and good locks and pay for theft insurance etc.

I would like to give my thanks to everyone for your kind advice and wisdom, I hope to be using these forums in the future for more advice and wisdom, cheers! Very excited to start riding it. :)

Ah, why is that? Very curious, if it is to do with it's speed, then no problem there, 2 years doing 25 mph... anything that does over 30 without heating the engine up, is fine with me.

+1 CBF's are basically CG's with a little bit of fairing and a more updated.

There's hardly anything in it between a CBF and a CBR 125.

If dude wants a CBF, he can get a CBF. It'd be more comfortable, and they're really easy to ride.

Only thing I don't like about the CBF is the drum brake on the back... but it's cheaper than a CBR as far as I'm aware!

Yeah the CBF is a cracking wee bike, and I like Honda's, they are super reliable and pretty easy to work on :)

You'll regret paying that much for a 125cc though!

I paid £2300 for my ZX9R.... Chances are you'll bash a 125 around so I'd never pay more than £1000 for one...

A CBF isn't likely to break, though!

I know where your coming but I intend on really looking after this bike, I won't be doing anything stupid on it and I doubt I'll ever test it's highest speed, not sure where I could anyway since I can't go on motorways. I will be so satisfied if it can do 60-65mph at ease.

Maybe 2 years down the line, if I haven't crashed it or something, I will probably be wanting to get a bigger cc and might even like someone mentioned above, get bored of it. I'm sure, in 2 years time, I could agree to pay the rest of it off, instead of paying monthly and seal the deal with Honda and sell it off as a 2 year old bike, maybe get half the money back if like I mentioned, don't do something stupid like crash it. I'll get half the money back and a ton of experience and that is all I can ask for.

Thanks for your views though, highly noted.

Oh and this drum brake on the back, how big of a problem is it?

Not a problem at all. Just a bit out of date.

Don't use it all the time and you'll be fine. The biggest issue with them is when they get hot, they're no where near as effective at braking.

How often do you use your back brake? I mean when do you acutely use the back brake and how much pressure do you give it? Give me an example situation please, thanks.
