Is your bike a "He" or a "She"?

Re: Is your bike a

I don't give my bike a gender or a name. I basically just call it whatever model name it is. Now I got a Honda Click, so i'll refer to it as the Click, pretty simple for me.

Re: Is your bike a "He" or a "She"?

Glad I'm not alone in this.
Quite surprised how many people agree too :)

I have to say I find it a bit weird talking to someone who keeps referring to a bike as 'she'. :|
...
when you talk about how 'she' just passed her MOT, inside I'm jumping up and down and making spakka noises. ;)

I do that too (sometimes not internally :???:)

I might start doing it for everything.
"oo... She (soup) needs some salt"
"Yes, I'll take milk and 2 sugars in her (coffee) please" :)

Re: Is your bike a

my bike is a she!
Although she doesnt have a name, it would feel pretty silly to me
to say things like "I cleaned Rosemarie today, boy was she dirty" :? or "Jaqueline won't start"

Come to think of it, what gender is a bike in languages like German that give things a gender?

it's an "it"

Re: Is your bike a "He" or a "She"?

Mine is not a he or she. My bike is a bike and doesn't have a gender. I don't even talk to it, I just talk to myself.

Re: Is your bike a

I don't really name my bike but I guess it's a 'she'. Like others I tend to use the classic 'slang' personification. "Yeah she's running pretty good" or "She needs an oil change". The other day I rode her for the first time in a couple of weeks due to snow and ice and such. After getting warmed up we pulled a nice 'V-Twin corner' (that's when you corner slowly but you go WOT at the end of the corner and let all that torque slingshot you out!). She got nice and loud and grumbly and I said "Oh you like that don't you girl?" (in a high pitch voice like you'd talk to a dog). My wife, who heard me via the bluetooth intercom (following me in her bike) laughed at me :(

My wife refers to her bike as a 'she' too. Her reasoning? "She's cute, so she's a girl".

Re: Is your bike a

My Bike is most certainly a female as she is known as 'The Lady'

She got this name as she likes a drink, makes loads of unnecessary noise and likes to be ridden hard, at least once a week!

Re: Is your bike a

My SV is definitely a she, although I do refer to her as "The SV" 99% of the time

Upon reading this thread though I think I might name her Sylvia, purely because of the SV in the name.

Sylvia the SV seems better than Beatrice the SV or Wanda the SV haha :)

Re: Is your bike a

Bikes are definitely "shes". They excite you, make your heart beat faster and harder than ever, they make you miss them when you're not with them, give you a kick when you muck 'em around but ultimately, they take your money and piss off with it as quickly as they can.
