Interpreting Youtube Analytics & What To Make Vids About

I've just been looking at my analytics. I've made a grand £10.54 in just over a year!

I was actually drilling down in to what people like and watch most. I've a few topic vlogs, 13 randoms videos and a couple of videos of just riding.

In terms of average view time per video, it appears that it's just under 3 minutes per video. Now I can see average watch percentage of each videos the randoms seem to be around 68% viewed, and other stuff 30-50% viewed. Most of my vids have 2-300 views, with a handful higher. My horsey one got shared on a horse riders campaign to get more motorists prosecuted Facebook page recently and you can see a massive spike in views, now at 900 views.

I've not really thought of many topics to vlog about lately, most of it has been randoms stuff lately, but I've a core of subs that really want me to vlog again. Problem with that is lack of topics, or lack of much to say about anything. Back when I was doing topics I was riding more on my own, lately I've been on RoSPA rides or ride outs and I tend not to vlog on those. While I enjoy making the vids, and so what if people watch, there's also no point making videos that nobody is going to watch either.

Just wondering what to do for future videos really, and which direction to take.

it appears to me that people are more inclined to watch the whole video when it comes to a rant or revue people soak up information and time fly's .

My Lazer helmet review has done quite well.

I think my retention time per vid has improved, it was down as low as 2 minutes per video a while back. Over 40000 views total, an increase of the average from 2 to 3 minutes is quite significant in a relatively short period of time. Means the latest comers are watching more of the videos more of the way through, which is good to see, and that it's mainly on the randoms videos.

I never found the % of each video watched analytic before, don't know if it's new or if I missed it beforehand.

Here's what I'm trying. Use the google Adwords keyword tool.

Put in keywords for everything you are thinking of doing. Now see what gets high searches. Now put those keywords into YouTube and see how many vids there are.

If people search for something 1000 times and there are 500 vids then it's a bad idea. If there are 10 videos then you should get high veiws.

I've done this with a vid I'm about to upload so I'll let you know if my theory works.

Fall off more, they seem to be the most popular videos.

What do you enjoy watching or making? Just make more of those and your audience will find you.

I do like the randoms and I watch randoms from others too, RJ being the king, especially as he gets interaction from others, usually unwitting peds :)

But I also enjoy a good ramble now and then, just feel I have nothing to ramble about.
