Insurance due

So it's that time of year again and I have to fork out for insurance.

I've done a compare the market search and the lowest is Hastings Direct at £124 FC for the year, or £85 TPFT. So does anyone have any experience with Hastings? What do you think of your insurer? Obviously the best test of any insurer is that unfortunate time, that may or may not come to us, where we have to make a claim.

So guys and gals, any thoughts?

I reccomend MCE personally. They're always very helpful when I need to call them, and they even threw a VIP BSB package in with my policy

Not the cheapest though, I pay over £1100 for the CBR, but thats with a lot of cover

Mine's gonna be about £250 TPFT/£400 FC this year, looking forward to next year when I might be able to fork out for the latter

I now pay that with MCE for 2 bikes. On fully comp. With everything they could possibly add thrown in. Including protected no claims, protected excess (whatever the hell that is) and RAC cover for both bikes.

I've been with Hastings for the past two years but as you say, haven't had to use them fortunately. They've been around for 15 years and I've not heard any bad coverage.

Well, sometimes I hate living in my country, but sometimes I love it. My insurance for Hornet costs about 40£ (rough conversion).

Seems a backward question there Pete, no insurance has been good for me. Especially, at times of trouble. I'm yet to get to know a decent insurance company, If they're good they're often too expensive to justify, and if they're cheap they're going to cover you for FA, and then charge you admin fees to answer your premium rate distress call which they resolve nothing for. I'm with Trinity Lane or something daft like that, to save paper they only send you the certificate by email, which is just a pants way of saying "we're saving ourselves postage fees at your expense."
