We have been chatting with Insta360 and for a limited time from the 23rd March until 12th April they are offering our members a 5% discount.
We will be putting a banner up when it starts which will direct you to their website, or you can use the below links:

Insta360 One R: Insta360 One R

Insta360 One X: Insta360 One X

You will need to drop me a private message for a discount code. They are single use codes, so please only request one if you intend to buy a camera.

I am delaying my review of the camera until they have released the next firmware update as it is due to fix a couple of things with the 4K Mod. I can hand on heart say that the 360 Mod is quite wonderful which if any of you have seen my latest video on my new Beta dirtbike, I am sure you would also agree.

This is a go now folk, sorry for the delay. save a wedge on some new tech, both the One R and the One X are fantastic 360 cameras!

Appreciate the thought Pete but unfortunately still far more than I'm willing to spend for this hobby.
Editing is also more of a pain with 360 footage.

I did get a GIT2 so will play with that after COVID era

I found this guy on youtube, ben clermont or something, he did a side by side of the one x, one r and max. he concluded there was no advantage of the one r over one x. i was hoping the one x would drop it price but it's still $400. i like the idea of a 360 camera on the bike, means nothing will be missed.

with a gopro, you can remove the battery and connect the camera to a charging cable and it can record until the SD card fills up. is something similar possible with the one r?
Sorry for jumping in, but that's really useful to know now I have a hardwire kit/waterproof case for my Hero 4! :D

Apparently you can run power to it, you can also do the same with the One X as well. You won't be able to plug a mic in at the same time though.

The problem is, the One R when it reaches max file size (at around 30min), takes around a minute to start recording the next clip, so you will lose footage that you may need, or at least have issues synching up the second video. I love 360 camera, but to me they are only useful for short clips, which also helps in editing as 360 footage, (and the 4k mod footage currently) need rendering into a framed video before you can then edit them into your helmetcam main footage, so editing time is at best doubled
