Insta 360 question

Issue with the remote is, at least in my case (One X2), that it works sometimes better, sometimes worse. If there is no direct line of sight to the camera, say your body is in between, it tends to lose connection. And it won't reconnect very easily.

Depends how far. If you will use the jousting style mount, you might not reach it. Then the remote comes in handy. But if it's right there on the bars, then yes, just press the button and go.
I even use that in the manner that I start recording and then extend the telescopic rod.

I will say that it's almost always safer, in my opinion, to use a remote while riding. If you start/stop recording while parked, no problem, but if you're riding? A one-button press remote is THE way to go.

I've seen motovloggers wreck, and others come close, because they were fooling around with cameras while riding, and I wouldn't want anyone in this group to have the same thing happen!

It is a single button on the camera too, so not really any different from using a remote unless the reach is further :)

You're not wrong. But, I have literally seen people reaching all over their bike to stop a camera recording while riding... I only did that once, realized how silly it was*, and bought a remote. Now, as long as my GoPros all act nice, I can control 5 of them at once.

*says the guy who regularly drinks coffee, smokes a cigar, and records videos while riding.

A lot of the issues are going to be based on where things are mounted. If you're reaching for the camera, or the remote, it is going to introduce risks which may be unhealthy in the longer term. I would hope a camera mounted on the bars would not be a big risk to reach for.
