Feedback Needed I am finally done with Episode 1!

I decided to rush it and not wait until I was 100% ready with all episodes. So here is the final cut of episode 1! It's half the length of my first video, as I cut it into two. It's live, and anyone can now find it. Scary.

Feedback is requested and graciously received.

Looks good! I think I remember watching your first video. Your voiceover work is top-notch!

The only thing I noticed that you might want to pay some extra attention to on the next one, is that around the 0:11-0:12 mark, there's a camera angle switch that glitched for a few frames.

Nice. I noticed the change in voice over tone on this one too but it was cool. Sounded like a DJ

Nice edit! I do prefer the length this time around. Seems like an appropriate chunk of time, long enough for a narrative, and short enough to not have to carve out a lunch break to watch. Looking forward to the rest of the trip!

Hey folks, thanks for all the supportive comments. It's been almost a week, and I think it did well at 230 views. I advertised it on three motorcycle forums (ADVRider, UKGSer, and BARF). I also shared it at work. 40% of my traffic was from external sites.

Search traffic results are terrible. While people are finding my stuff in searches, no one is actually searching for Portuguese motorcycle videos, so watch times are measured in seconds for them.

Overall I feel my retention is fair. The average watch time is 37%. I have no idea if this is good or bad, but I feel it's ok. I'm sure that I could have sensationalized it but still not bad.

My second episode launched today. It's already getting views, so that makes me happy. I feel like the content is good, but just not something people are looking for. I do have some plans for more generic videos that I think will have a broader appeal that will drive more traffic to the travel stuff that I really want to make.

The journey continues!

Anything over 30% is good, over 50%? excellent.

You're doing great with 230 views, though - most of my videos don't get that many views EVER.

If you're gonna go more general, be aware that those subscribers may not enjoy the rest of your videos. Trust me, I've seen it in my own channel. Viewers tend to want one thing from each channel, not multiple things [I do Resolve tutorials, motovlogs, product reviews, and bike stuff]

Thanks, it will all be moto travel related. I will do a 5-7 video series with the theme of "7 Tips on XXX"—all to do with moto travel. I have a lot of experience with traveling by bike, so I figure it's something I know a lot about, and I have a unique perspective.

I'm also going to do shorts with many of the individual clips. Like a short of "Tip #5 of things to never bring on a moto trip" with a plug for viewing the full list on my channel. The hope is that the individual clips will get me the high exposure count that the shorts do and drive a little traffic to the long-form version.

Time will tell.

There will definitely be an audience for your stuff.

You have a plan, so you're already ahead of 99% of YouTubers - good going!

I think that's a winning formula - if I could give one suggestion, it would be to establish your bona fides via a quick intro. I think it'll help sell the Tips you're sharing, but that's just my opinion. Kind of like how YouTubers who do motorcycle coaching start out by giving their credentials.

LOL! Great minds think alike. Here is my intro script:
My peeps!!! I’m Steve McCaa. I once rode 9500 miles in 11 days to finish the Iron Butt Rally. I’ve also ridden over 200,000 miles on a motorcycle. Including all 50 states, and 15 countries. My greatest wish is that I can help you get motivated to take a trip on your bike. So here are 7 things you might not have thought of to take on your trip.
