I just uploaded the first in what is likely going to be a 3 part series on how to get more subs. A lot of people may disagree with some of what I say or they may have things to add. Either way check it out and comment if you have other tips to share with your fellow motovloggers.

I started with filming and editing so the really good stuff is going to be in part 2 and 3. It went a lot longer than I thought it would. The other parts should be out in the next few days. Just so you'll know what to expect they're roughly broken in into the following categories: filming and editing techniques, uploading and getting your video noticed, and the category that I think is most important, community interaction and cross promotion.

Here's part one. I hope these videos help some people. If anyone has anything to add please comment or submit a video response.

You know what?

I'm going to upload videos whether people are subscribed to me or not, and I don't give a shit about all these 'GET LOADS OF SUBS INSTANTLY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!' things.

What are you really trying to prove? (nothing personal to the OP - but to everyone in general).

I agree. That is when my computer works. Although, saying that, I do seem to have a steady flow of subscribers despite the fact I only have one video...

Agreed!

Krytens video actually does give some great tips on how to film and make videos and that. I liked it.

Just not keen on the title...

If you watch the video it's not a "GET LOADS OF SUBS INSTANTLY RIGHT NOW!!!!" thing. It's not about having anything to prove. It's mostly just about getting noticed. Whether people sub and stick around is really up to the person and their commentary. They're all simple things that anyone on Youtube should be doing anyway. It's how to get good subs that actually watch your stuff and comment and interact with you, which seems to be what most people here want.

If you want quick subs you just use a bot like a lot of the big name people. That will get you subs quickly but most of them won't watch.

My video series was meant to be helpful to those that might need some tips. I did it because people were asking how to get noticed and get more subs. If you're not interested in getting subs and building an audience then motovlogging is kinda silly. It's just riding around talking to yourself.

It's kinda like a job really. You have to work at it. I'm just telling people the things that I've done that have helped me get noticed and get more subs. If you're not interested in putting just a little bit of work into it then why bother doing it in the first place.

What should I have titled it? If I called it "How to be a Better Motovlogger" I would have people bitching about that.

Ah, ok - I couldn't watch the video from work.... I didn't actually clock your name for some reason (maybe because I was supposed to be working), but I AM actualy subscribed to you lol!

I hate that people use bots for subs - the same as they do for blog views. All that tells you is that you can cheat. You don't know if people like you, or if what you're putting out there is any good, and that just seems completely pointless to me.

I was wrong to assume the content of your video, and it is good and worth a watch, by the way!

I don't want to start another argument about bots but even bots have their place. I think a lot of people misunderstand what bots do.

They're mainly used to comment on other people's videos, subscribe to other people's channels and send mass messages to people in hopes that they'll check out your videos and subscribe. A majority of the big name Youtubers use them. If you've ever had message on your channel comments that said something like, "Nice vids, NastyEvilNinja. Thumbs up!" or "This has been an accidental comment". Then you've witnessed bots being used.

There's a misconception that bots artificially inflate your subscriber count. They just put your name in front of a massive number of people in a relatively short time. It's still up to your content to rope them in and make them subscribers. It's just a marketing tool. As long as you don't spam the hell out of people it's no different than leaving messages on forums or any other form of marketing your channel.

I think the point has been lost somewhere,

To me, the video is about how to gain subscribers in an honest way. I, like most of you, subscribe to people because of quality. If you produce midless crap, then you wont gain any subscribers. The video is about how to improve quality, gaining sunscribers honestly, you get me?

I BUY SUBSCRIBERS EVERY DAY.

Haha, I love how subtle this example is ;)

I have had this more than once.

Subscribers to anything are odd imo. Like with fb and Twitter, some people just see it as an ego boost to see who has more subscribers than someone else. To me, uploading videos to yt is something I do cuz it interests me and hopefully those who follow me do so because they like my vids or subject matter, not cuz I subscribed to them first. I hate that, spesh on Twitter (which I've now ditched due to lack of use)., that 'subscribe to me and I'll follow back in return' bollox.

DId you watch my video? It's not about any of the things you commented on. It's about making better videos, getting noticed and viewer retention. It's about getting quality subs that are actually interested in your material that will subscribe, watch and comment.

If it was just about subscriber numbers I would have done a tutorial on how to use bots because that's the quickest and easiest way to make the number go up but many of the people that sub through that method are not likely to stick around long.

Haha, sometimes accidental broadcast uses that to end a comment :P so it's not allways a bot! :D

When it's posted at random on your channel comments, not a video comment, and then you notice it on several other people's channels around the same time it's almost definitely a bot. Not that I have anything against the use of bots if you use them just to market yourself and not to artificially inflate you're views and subscriber numbers.
