Hi all,

I hope it's not repeated, and I hope my english skills make me understandable.

Editing in my case is the number 1 priority, without it, I thing I wouldn't have almost 2000 subs in 5 months.

As I spend 10, 20, or even 30 hours in every video, i'd like to know how much time do you spend on editing your videos.

That's the question, feel free to call me crazy

I probably spend around 3-4 hours, including reviewing the raw footage. I'm not including exporting because I leave that overnight

less and less time each time I do the video. I usually trim the clips down to what I want to use, then I pick any places I want to use emoji or "ragefaces" since you can't see my face (although now I have a 2nd cam so probably can stop doing that as long as my face cam is on) to show my unspoken reaction to stuff.

I think a 5 minute video takes maybe an hour to throw together and upload.

One thing I've noticed: Youtube lets you see how long people watch your vids for. I go with the flow and try to not make them any longer than they need to be. Mindless driving around or rambling is what I try to cut out as much as possible from the final vid. If you've seen my vids, there's lots of rambling, so you can imagine how much garbage I cut out.

Until my computer crashed I was doing at least 3-4 hours a video. A good hour of that was dealing with a crappy computer. I just dropped some serious skrilla on a new computer so hopefully editing time decreases. Im hoping my editing ability will begin to bring in more viewers and subscribers. I really try to make the video how I like to watch videos and editing options I love to see in other videos.......i dont know if that makes sense. lol

Not enough, I get very lazy about it.

I'm trying to up the production value of my videos and it takes ages.

Ever tried editing in 4k, requiring transcoding a proxy before relinking and rendering. So much time wasted before you even start editing.

And then the color correction and frame by frame touch ups.

If it was a normal videography video, it'd take me weeks to finish one.

Hmm few hours depending on what I want to do.

My process is as follows.

• Open notepad
• Open footage
• Watch footage and take down time codes of sections I want.
• Open After Effects
• Add old footage for outro
• Add footage to timeline
• Make all the cuts to footage
• Rough scrub through timeline and remove any necessary or non-relevant footage
• Add transitions, effects, text etc
• Add music if need be
• Render
• Watch rendered version
• Cut more footage
• Re-render
• Watch rendered footage
• Cut more...
• Re-render
• Final version is ready for upload

Any reason you use After Effects for editing and not Premiere Pro?

Premiere Pro is used for editing footage, but if you want to do any SFX, After Effects is pretty handy to have as well.

That is how I understand it as well, which is why I wanted to know why he is using After Effects only for editing. Judging by what I know of After Effects (admittedly not much) it seems like a lot of work

I have only made one video and it took me some 25+ hours to do it. A lot of it was the rendering at 100% and finding out my intro had no sound via codec issues.

I used Blender. As well as Movie studio platinum 13. the Main footage cut was done with GoPro.
