How Did You Guys Get Started?

The guy who rides in red
Hey everyone, RiderInRed here, first time posting. Nice to meet everyone
So I've been trying to ride dem motorcycle ropes and all is good and whatnot. Just wondering how did you guys get started at motovlogging? How'd you get your viewers and subscribers? Is this even a real thing now? Is it doable I mean?

Cheers, I appreciate the responses!

If you are doing it to get subs and money, you are doing it wrong. Do it because you enjoy doing it. Be yourself, be honest, have fun. Numbers are just numbers, nothing more.

Thanks everyone for the answers!

Eh this is a double whammy. Motovlogging is fun and all but at the same time it takes money. If I could at least get some viewers who appreciate what I do, I could justify spending the money. If I could get tad bit money along with that to at least pay for the gas, that'd be great.

True, but with any hobby, it takes money. This one is pretty cheap compared to some of my previous ones. RC car racing and paintball got REAL expensive, real fast. At the end of the day, dont worry about what other people think, just do you. If you arent having fun doing it anymore, move on to something else. Nobody will hate you for trying something different in your life, instead of doing something you dont enjoy because you feel obligated because of a sub count.

OH yeah, I hear ya! Nah my hobbies haven't been so expensive per se. I do cigars and music (used to buy tons of gear and all)... oh wait... no they were pretty darn expensive :D

Kept watching the "big guys" (motovloggers) for a few months and even tho I'm riding for 9 years NONSTOP (only motorcycles), everyday is a new day.
Everyday I feel like I'm more and more in love with motorcycles, the thrills, the funs, the memories.

So about ~2months ago I decided to pair my 'f*cked up' personality, multimedia amateur skills and my motorcycle passion into one.
I felt like I needed to have some of that motovlogging fun into my life.

Since day one of my project I knew, its not going big. I am aiming Greek audience only and there is basicly only TWO motovloggers in the whole country, plus 5 out of 10 riders dont even know what motovlogging is. Even Greek laws are against public video recording! But I just didnt care.

I'm pretty sure even after 2 years I wont even make it to 1k subscribers or something but even so, I put ALOT of effort into my channel.
Because mainly I do it for myself and then for anyone else.

A small but precious tip from a new guy as myself. DO NOT give up and DO NOT let others control you.
They might troll you, they might make fun of you, they might even tell you that you're doing it wrong.
But as a matter of fact, Motovlogging is simple and subjective. You do whatever you wanna do, you say whatever you wanna say and you, be you.
Wanna do reviews, do them. Wanna talk about your life, do so. Wanna talk about motorcycles and how-to and dual vlog and whatnot, do it.

PS. Wall of text and all, I'm sorry but I had personal 'haters' that almost got into my skin.. until I remembered why I started this.. FUN!

If you build it they will come. Just make a channel and go for it you will get subscribers maybe not allot but you will still get some. I'm at like 3 months and have about 27 subs and I don't really post my videos anywhere but here every once in a great while.

Hey man great stuff right there. I'm in a similar situation as I wanna target the Armenian audience. Hell I actually suck at Armenian cause I originally grew up in Cali. So English is my native language.

But then again, there are no Armenian motovloggers so I guess that's an advantage. I don't even have a gopro yet so Ima see how things go and if I wanna invest into it just to even try a single episode.

I started out because keeping quiet in my daily commute is so damn boring! And its a way to show how fucked up drivers are in my country. :D
Few more months to almost a year since I've started vlogging, and only 200+ subs. But then again, I don't really care about subs. Never did any kind of marketing to gain subs/views other than sharing on my personal Facebook or put in the 'Like & Subscribe' text at the end of a video.

I always like making videos but its so difficult due to copyright this and that. Motovlogging was a good way for me to have some fun with video and riding! I got the idea about 5 months ago when I saw my first motovlog. (Walteriffic) It never dawned on my that I can just make some neat compilations or short subject convos on my bike. As for the views/money, yes money helps, but i am just starting and the view count is more important to me. After all, what good is spending hours on something is nobody watches it. I have started a lot of good relationships with people all over the world though! I even got one Motovlogger who has been on the fence to finally take the plunge!
