Hero 3+ Black Vs Silver Sd Card Record Times?

Anyone noticed this before? A hero 3+ black will have LESS recording time available on the same size memory card as a silver both set to the exact same settings. Curious as to why? Lens? Why would the black be using more data?

do they both come out in the same format or possibly the camera use's different /protected data storage so less likely to corrupt.

They record at different bitrates.

Right click on the files from each camera on your PC and click properties. On one of the tabs you will see the bitrates.

In simple terms the 3+ Black records more detail per pixel (colour depth) and uses a less lossy compression algorithm to compress the files resulting in higher quality and higher volume files.

And that's what I was looking for! Interesting as the footage has such loss once uploaded doesn't seem to matter anyway

Have you tried uploading at 30fps? You should get a lot better image quality than with 60 on youtube as their bitrates for 60fps are not double the bitrates of 30fps.

They are at a different quality. Marginal, but there is a difference. However not noticeable, especially after converting and exporting.
