Hi guys, I'm editing a video of a trip I took recently and one of the gopro files, which is about 1gb, is not opening, does anyone have any tips on a site that can repair the file? I found some free ones but they have a limit of 300gb and those that don't have are paid and for me it's expensive because they are in dollars. Thanks!

Has it not split the video into separate sections? My GoPro cameras have always split files into normally 8-10min sections, so if something corrupts, it only gets 8min of the footage.

You can try VLC or Handbrake, both are free and I've had some luck using them to fix corrupted files, but as always, your mileage may vary.

I tried by VLC transforming the mp4 to AVI file and then trying to repair it but it didn't work...

Dang.

I know that when a GoPro corrupts a file, it's forgetting either the header or footer, and I'm not sure what it would take to fix.

But VLC does play it back?
It seems odd, it won't be able to covert it in to a different format then. Maybe try adding start and end timestamps, just few seconds off the real length of the file?

No, It don't play in VLC...

To whom it may concern, after trying everything that is possible and not being able to repair the video, I found this site that is paid but has a reasonable price, I uploaded the file there and it worked, it repaired the video and it was great. I paid 9 dollars through paypal.

I've had my GoPro corrupt files from time to time, but I never could figure out a way to fix them so I ultimately deleted and moved on. Next time it happens I might try that site you linked!

I usually do that too but as it was an important part of the video I wanted to recover it somehow

wish I saw this post a few days back, had to delete a file off my drone as it somehow became corrupt, lost a fair bit of footage >_<
