Been accused of fleeing the scene of an accident.

I'll be honest, I turned off half way because I have to pop out but get the police involved

I'm presuming your bike is data tagged, if you replaced parts then it won't be as such

Also, insurance have to prove it was you, don't do the job for them and if you've proven that it wasn't you or your bike, tell them to fuck off quite frankly. Don't play their game

Do you have legal cover in your insurance? Bang it straight through them, it will not be classed as a claim

They can show me the evidence first ..i would let them do all the chasing wouldn't waste my time if i knew it wasn't me

Simply ask them to provide proof, they will need it if they're going to court anyway.

Also, does your rear plate have any studs that are near the letters? If you've been picked off by cameras twice incorrectly, I'd have a look at how your plate could be misread.

Or get a GB plate on it, just something distinctive at the back if that's the case.

And thanks for the tips, chaps. I have indeed left it to them to prove it was me. It's more of a 'worst case scenario' I'm thinking of to cover myself. Providing the evidence to my insurers took me all of 2 minutes so I've done that to help make things easier.

Lurch, I don't think a stud on my plate will have anything to do with misreading someone else's plate as mine. The question is, has someone else got a plate that's very similar to mine and keeps getting read incorrectly, or has someone cloned mine.

My main concern is that, if it is a clone of the exact bike, and the guy turns out to wear similar clothing. it's going to be difficult to convince a judge that it wasn't me.

Could also just be an insurance scam.

Sounds like an insurance scam to me. Just get all the data you can that can prove where you were or weren't that day and talk to an attorney. If the police get involved, you're going to need one anyway. I don't know how it works in the UK, but it may be good to have a lawyer on speed dial just in case.

If you have your phone with you they can trace the towers it was pinging. Better, if you have apps tracking your location you can prove exactly where your phone was and it would be up to them to prove that you didn't have your phone on you as someone else was using it.
