Gopro 3, + , Or Hero 4 (my Gopro 3 Died!!)

Hey guys,

Quick and simple question, looking for just your opinions..

I have a GoPro Hero 3 Black edition right now and I've always been REALLY happy with it. I really like it, I like it more than I like other competitors and it's just all personal preference really - I like the front mount on my helmet and it works perfectly.

Anyways, yesterday the USB port inside my GoPro decided to crap out. The solder has come undone and through Google it seems this is a very common issues.. which GoPro doesn't warrant or fix. (I've had the camera for 2 years though so.. it's got no warranty anyways).

So to upgrade/ replace this GoPro (because soldering it back requires some insanely pricy micro size soldering tools and a very precise hand..) ... I want a new GoPro. But as we all know, they're hella expensive!!!!

So my question is, IF you were in my shoes and wanted to upgrade - best bang for buck value which would you choose in the above poll?

I voted "3 Silver" because I think you meant "4 Silver", since you say it's 500$. To me, that's the best: Superview, good battery, enough resolution, improved low-light performance, new Nightlapse mode, ...

I would avoid bestbuy and buy a hero3+ silver online. 1080p is great and the video fidelity is amazing.

Hero 3+ Black is identical to the 4 Silver but without a screen and it has better battery life for a lot less money.

I have 3+ Silver, but now I miss the new Superview... But yeah, I would go either for 3+ Silver as the cheapest option or 4 Silver for the more expensive but "full equip" option.

what you using the usb for? charging and dumping data?
If thats the case, why not just get another black, use your old one for a secondary cam, and use the new one to charge both batteries and dump data?

For microphone audio dude, haha.. for motovlogging.. Can't use a microphone now at all ..

Sorry in my poll the last option for $500 should be the Hero 4 Silver.

Also RE: buying online, I think it's more money online now than BestBuy because of Canadian Vs US Dollar rates, it's really bad right now

Thinking Hero 3 + Silver for $380 is best bet, then I'll have 5 batteries to use, AND I can charge batteries and use them in the Hero 3 Black (which has broken USB) and use that gopro for just a secondary view if needed...
