Going Ghost Hunting In An Old Prison

dandoolittle

Site owner, lovely and adorable
So tomorrow, I'm going ghost hunting at Ashwell Prison. It's been closed for a couple of years or so.

I'm guessing we get locked in and just walk about till 4am. One hand I'm hoping I get freaked out and start seeing stuff thrown all over the place. The other hand I'm hoping it gets cancelled and I can go bed....

Anyone been on a ghost hunt?

It's funny, I don't believe in ghosts but I did a ghost walk in Edinburgh and it scared the shit out of me. Also ghost movies put the shits up me.
Good luck and if we never hear from your again, farewell :)

That sounds like it could be really scary or really fake and lame. I don't believe in ghosts but I'm shit scared of them so I think I know what my experience would be in an abandoned prison/hospital/asylum

I get annoyed with myself that I let ghost stuff creep me out.

I think I'm weird, although I don't believe in ghosts and paranormal I also think it's something we don't actually understand and shouldn't be treated without respect.

I always say the paranormal is science undiscovered.

Take you camera!!!!! shoulder mount them! also get ghost busters as your ring tone/ alarm tone!

Get a creepy sound app for your phone as well to freak other people out!

also take a white sheet!!!

if things get bad have scooby doo on speed dial

So how did it go?

Saw this thread and it reminded me of a ghost hunting trip I took years ago to Peoria State Hospital Historic District, also known as Bartonville State Hospital or Illinois Asylum for the Incurable Insane (I'm too new or I would have hyperlinked). It was a typical Illinois August afternoon, 95+ degrees, 100% humidity (sure felt like it), clear sky. The exterior of the abandoned building was in good condition but every window had a rock thrown through it and you couldn't get inside. Finally after walking around the building and sweating to death I walked maybe ten yards away to the shade of a tree. The girls I was with were next to one of the barred windows and both made weird comments like they were surprised. Me being annoyed that we wasted half a day coming to this place and now standing outside, sweat dripping everywhere, I asked what's up. "Don't you feel that!?" they replied. I turned towards them and BAM it hit me. I felt like I had just walked into a freezer! Instantly.

I'm not going to say it was a ghost or anything but it was an odd moment for sure. Fun topic.
