Too right! I don't know why they don't. Just need a small slim commuter, a CBF125 or similar would do the trick, bang, hey presto. Bust people at rush hour for 2 weeks then release the stats to the local paper, bet it would make a difference.
I hear Cambridge Police have said they will accept camera footage from the public, bit will only act where it depicts actual threat to life such as driving at someone or hit and run, but all incidents would be noted and logged and would be uaed when considering a more serious offence or if many complaints were raised over one vehicle.

Well since they are undercover they could easily get close to bikers and pull them over for violations as well too, I guess. Not sure I would fancy that.
Based on what I see, you don't have to be undercover to catch these people. Most of them are so oblivious while on the phone they don't even notice the cop cruising up. Sure some would notice and stop, but the cops will still manage to get a lot of them.

What's good for the goose is the gander. You can't want the police to catch car drivers for breaking the law, nor can you complain about car drivers breaking the law unless you are prepared to either not break the law yourself or going to act within the law in the first place.
Not all laws are fair, but when you got your licence you accepted the rules or the road and that you would ride/drive within those rules.

They already have unmarked police bikes in London, caught a couple on video before. But sadly none seem to go for the mobile users.

I'd go so far as you're more likely to bag more on phones than speeding. Look at how many phone users vloggers bag on relatively short commutes.

I honestly think that new phones need to come with mandatory GPS. As soon as the speed is higher than 5mph there is only one option available. Dial 911...

Fair point. But, people have to suffer for the greater good at times. Trains are on a track, so GPS could designate that as a safe zone. Busses could transmit a wifi signal that allows phone operation inside the bus. Passengers in cars however... That will be unfortunate, but I guess someone has to suffer for the greater good?
It was an appealing notion. But probably it will never happen anyway...

Idk if that would work in the states. Our cops would be pulling themselves over too. It would be nice though people have no idea how dangerous it is until something happens.
