Getting Started?

Adventurer
Preface: I cant put links yet (this 4 day stuff is inhibiting...)

I do have a YouTube Channel and have uploaded a number of videos and have some subscribers (outside my friends list, even). Views are OK, but not through the roof. Mostly because I havent really advertised a whole lot yet. Most of the views and stuff come from my blog.

I have the following in place now.
1. YouTube Channel
2. Wordpress Blog (where I autopost to the next piece)
2. FaceBook Page specific for the blog.

What I believe I still need.
1. Intro video / titles
2. Seamless repeating background music track so I dont have to use YouTube's.
3. Ending titles/credits
4. Actual logo

My question is this. What are the KEY pieces for building a successful MotoVlog channel that I am not thinking of?

Again, I cannot post the links yet (plenty of posts, but not on 4 days...)

The key is really content. Not too many people can get away with videos over 5 minutes and keep people interested. Don't know about yours, as I haven't seen your channel. Good editing and sound are a plus. Be as original as possible and find things to post that will keep people interested. About half of the almost 300,000 views on my channel are from one video where I get hit by a car, because people like action. The other 90-something videos range anywhere from 50 views to several thousand, with the motovlogs probably getting the least of the views, besides the car one. I get more views on vids where I sit around, smoking a pipe and talking about random shit. Go figure.

Just checked out your Youtube channel! I know you weren't asking for a channel critique, but here are a couple things I look for when looking for a new channel to follow. Anyway, I would love to see your channel name in the banner, not the thumbnail. I'd also love to see more contrast between the two images- it's hard to visually differentiate between the two. Another idea is to settle with your name. In the thumbnail it's, "The Adventures of Raven" but the channel URL is "Deckyon" and even more, your Wordpress URL is "TheRavenBran." I bring this up for two reasons. First, I'm a stickler for consistency. Second, when I find someone creating content I enjoy, I want to see what else they have going on. When you go by different names, you might lose potential followers on Wordpress if a Google search doesn't pull up "Deckyon" or "The Raven." Lastly, I watched some of your stuff and would really love to see more descriptive titles. I clicked around not sure if I was going to get a vlog, a ride report, travelogue, etc.

You also mention looking for music to use in your videos. I use Free Music Archive. I've actually been able to strike up a few relationships with musicians from there and use their work almost exclusively.

All of that said, I think you are WELL on your way! You post a lot more frequently than I ever have and there is a lot to be said about posting consistency. You're smart to look ahead and plan how to build your brand.

Anyway, I've subscribed and look forward to seeing your channel continue to flourish!

I have been fighting with youtube about changing the name. I can't get the settings to do a custom url to come up... I could probably redo everything from scratch with all new accounts. To change the WP site, I would have to buy a subscription, and right now my money outpouring wont allow for that. A lot of what you are saying I realize. I will have to look at the image for the top, see what I have in my archive for it.

I figured you knew what to look into. I hope I didn't come across as harsh! I enjoy your content and in the end, that leads to success quicker than anything.

no, all good. But as once I got riding, I figured it was a good way to show the rides to my parents some of the rides. I have started working more on the youtube side beyond the blog. I have a couple plans for rides this coming year and next, and may look into getting some sponsors or other stuff like that and make it a real travel log, with a special section on the blog and maybe a whole new channel. I just dont want to pay, at this point, for something (web subscriptions) I dont need. There are plenty of expenses as it is.
