Future bike: ZX6R or DRZ400SM?

Just get them both...they are two completely different bikes with two completely different purposes.

Pick which one fits your riding style the most. If you're all about going 100+ down the highway and racing and cutting edge performance, than the zx6r would be better. The DRZ is more of an around town/flickable/versatile/slower speed fun machine. Much cheaper to buy and insure.

Two completely different bikes. If you want a bike that is a mixture of the two...I may suggest getting a naked bike. :D

You make the DRZ sound very enticing!

That maybe be because I've subconsciously made up my mind hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Haha...honestly...get the one your heart is telling you to get. If you haven't...see about a test ride on both and which one you feel better with. I'm not a big fan of riding supersports on the street...but sometimes you just need that thrill. If you live next to an abundance of twisty roads, then I could see it feasable to get a high performance cornering machine. But I find much more use (for me) out of a different bike that you can have fun on even at slow speeds. Well also...because I don't really like to go over 100 haha.

Don't get me wrong, I love to go fast!

But I want to live as long as possible and I don't think the zx6r will help with that :P

Also, practicality wise the DMZ makes so much more sense!

I must test ride them both but I think I may favour the DMZ :P

DRZ DRZ DRZ  You'll get pissed off with a ZX6R quickly enough. I just bought a DRZ (the one in the video) and it is forking amazing. It handles like you wouldn't believe and although not fast, its the most fun i've ever had on a motorbike. I got it on Friday and i've already done about 500 miles haha! If you can, DRZ all the way.

I have both, 2009 zx6r and a 2007 drz400sm.

I commute to work about 80-100 miles a day. I love taking to bike but at highway speeds the DRZs single cylinder burns gas like a boss. I go from 50ish mpg to around 30 when pulling 70+mph for extended times. Plus it has zero wind protection. Now on the weekends and nice evenings the Drz is tons of fun! No real complaints. I do wish it had a 6th gear and didn't sound like a lawn mower when stock.

The ZX is awesome to play with but on hot days getting stuck in traffic while riding around town on weekends it does get tedious. It gets hot quick. I actually have a burn scar on my right ankle. For destination rides it isn't bad. Not as comfortable as the Drz but definitely more practical.

It honestly depends on what kind of riding you plan on doing. Commuting, playing with friends, organized group dinner rides, etc?

supermoto all day long unless you need to go motorway/highway alot.

if you need to go on faster roads i say get a slightly older drz and get cheap road bike i bought my 650 for pennys and still have my supermoto and its the best haveing 2 bikes XD r

You havnt mentioned budget, but why DRZ when you could get a 690smc? Are you actually going to go off road and do jumps? If not, there's a large range or pretend motards.

Just woke up :)

Thank you so much for these replies!

Make me want to get the DRZ so much sooner!

Budget wise cheaper is better I guess.
Was mainly considering the zx6r for weekends in the hills, but the more I think about it the more the DRZ looks like it would be more fun inn the hills.

R17 just commented on your video! that bike looks so sexy and amazing! I'll probably ask you in a few months if you are still enjoying it as much :D

The bike would mostly be used to ride to work (6km away) and to gym (same distance).

But I would probably do about 2 rides a week with Al which are about 50km each way. about a third of those rides are on the higway, the rest is city traffic like in our "ninja and cb 250 city ride" video :)

That much on the higway shouldn't really be a problem should it?

Commuting AND fun in the hills? Street Triple - just saying... not biased or nothing? :P
