Hey folks,

So, I've got a nice 125 VL Intruder, which has a 12 litre gas tank, of which something like 3 litres is the reserve tank. Anyways, today I ran out of fuel in the main tank, which is confusing, as it's only done something like maybe 150 miles since its last re-fill.

I'm not sure whatsoever how many mpg it's ment to get, but, this confused me. I didn't expect it to use it up so quickly. Anybody had any similar experiences?

most 125s do around 100mpg, as I recall 1 gallon = 4.5 litres (may be wrong) so you had 2 gallons, before the reserve = 200 miles steady riding, me thinks you have been racing? :p

HA, racing on my cruiser? No sir. lol If it's a 60 zone, I can hit 60 and stick to it. If it's a 70 zone, I can't even reach it. >< There's certinely no racing for me, I don't break speed limits anyway. :p I guess all I can really do is keep an eye on it and try and work out any possible problems, it's just a bit of a pain in the ass to have £10 gone in a few days. :p

Still sounds like you've got quite a good consumption rate to be honest. Doesn't sound like anythings up.

enjoy cheap riding while you can :p It may seem expensive but its not by a long shot. Maybe try watching some of elkfazer1's vlogs, I think he has a "fuel consumption" vlog or something like that, to help you get the most from your bike.

I guess maybe I got a scare. It was only a few days I got it filled up completely, so this came as a bit of a shock. Bleh, maybe I'm confused about how many miles I've done. I'll write down the time I filled up, and what the miles counter reads, and then compare it the next time I run out. Should give me a good idea of what the fuel consumption rate is. :)

And thank you dude, I'll go and check out his account now! Much appreciated. :D

indeed 80mpg is good going. It will always be less with city riding aswell, also check tire pressures.

Do you not have trip on your bike?

looks like a little dial on the side of the rev limiter/ or near the mileage.

Set it back to 000000 and then start a full tank run untill your dry and reserve is empty. Then you'll know how many untill reserve and how far your getting for your money.

^ Best thing I did on my 125 I learnt quiet alot that day, and got to see quite alot of the countryside too.

on my 125 I managed 105miles for £10
on my 650 I managed 150miles for £20

^ You do the math.

Tempted to do it myself, strap a 5ltr bottle to the rear seat and just ride until empty :) I've "chanced it" to 35 miles on reserve, just not hit empty yet.
