Followed By An Angry Driver On His Phone.

Heading in to work this morning, I see this guy swerving as I'm passing so I look over and he's texting away. Now my reaction, as always, is to look at them so they know I can see them, and shake my head or make a "wtf man" hand jester to hopefully result in them putting their phone down, and paying attention(yeah right).

So, the guy keeps texting, and looks at me angrily. I immediately accelerate, and lane split through the cars ahead to get away from him. I look over a moment later and here he comes down the fast lane, following me. I eventually dropped gears and opened my bike up to get to my exit, and get away from him.

How would you have handled the situation, if you notified him as I did?

I always point at my camera now... Nothing like a little public shame threat. And the campus cops here love the idea giving those guys a visit (don't want to write a ticket unless they are jerks or have been obviously quite reckless)... We have good cops here!

Stay away from them, or ignore them, don't public shame or anything because as soon as you're gone they'll just get the phone out again, until there's a real solution to the drivers using phones problem there's no point in us doing anything as nothing will change and by antagonizing them you just put yourself in the firing line.

Very true. Like before it was a fixed penalty, people used to just tuck the phone down when they saw a copper. Well, they probably still do...
