First Motovlog Recorded...harder Than I Though!

Wow, finally got the camera set up done, the mic came in and I had to take the bike for a ride to get fresh tags (yesterday was my 40th birthday and thus the state says I must be punished monetarily for still living)...the planets were aligned for my first motovlog! I geared up, warmed the beast, hit record and was off!

I started talking and quickly noticed how it engages a completely different pet of your brain! Now being 40, there's only so much bandwidth of neuron transfer that can take place so it was a delicate dance from right to left brain (some might say no brain was a third option). I had some bike issues that needed sorting out, just my idle but it kept stalling at stops, but that quick break gave me the opportunity to reflect on the two things I was trying to accomplish...not crashing and having a conversation with people who aren't there!

This realization sent me into a different technique to try. A few stories, some observations, and some riding tips...all told like I was driving a car and talking to a passenger. The stories were the hardest because I actually noticed myself changing my eye position up and right which is what one tends to do when trying to remember something...not necessarily something good while trying to not die in a fiery crash that you, yourself, are recording!

Video is imported, lots to leave on the editing room floor but I should have something up soon on it!

Lol it gets easier the more you do, mine are just rambling stupid nothingness but some people like it. I tend not to think about what to say and just whatever comes out comes out, I think when vlogging my brain/mouth has no filter so any old shit gets through.

My first published motovlog will be no other than my 7 year olds request. I asked him what he thinks daddy should share with new friends, his response was the monkey song. Hard to say no to a sweet little guy with Down syndrome who's favorite song ever is about stupid monkeys being naughty!

I've got some other good stuff but my riding position is apparently different than how I thought I held my head while riding. Not much road frontage and a lot of upper triple/bars (the bar end mirrors are awesome in the videos!)

I am running the fcpx trial version as I kinda freaked out with what happened to the video at 1080/60 in iMovie! Very, very choppy...I thought I hit some kind of bad recording setting like intervals or something :/

Anyways, the monkey song video and another riding video should be edited and uploaded tonight!

Hi MrJoel! I recently started making videos as well, subscribe to my channel and I'll check out your videos as well. You can look at my videos and other vloggers videos to get some topic ideas for your own motovlogs :)

You can also make several videos in one motovlog if you want as well, just record your intro greeting before each topic.

When it comes to deciding to keep on your train of thought/speech against shutting up to assess the road situation, always choose to shut up and focus on what's happening on the road. Safety first.

Hah! That's exactly what happens with me! There are some days when I just wouldn't talk at all, then there are days when I can't stop talking.

I've noticed a lot of the guys with big YouTube numbers don't have an inner monologue....kinda like in Austin powers, what they think just comes out. But that's what we want to see, right? It is much more personal if you know that the Gould mood might be because they didn't get their coffee that morning or they put the stupid pickles on the burger at the drive through...or "good grief that dudes elbow is up his nose".
