Hey,

As you might know I am new to the Youtube.

What does the featured channel list on your channel do and what is the etiquette around it?

For example if I featured a very popular and big channel what happens?
Do they know about it? Are there benefits?
Do I just use this function to highlight random channels I like or is it to network and promote people?
Also is it the done thing to tell people that you feature them?

Just looking for info really and how to properly use the function. i just think my channel looks a little sparse without it :)

Thanks for all and any info :)

I think it is a nice way of back scratching other channels, I have not told those I feature on mine that they are as they are much larger than my channel mostly so they would probably not be able to do the same for me. I guess it also reflects your character too as folk will know if you like a certain youtuber that your content may be similar

Basically it's just links to channels you like. It may drive a small amount of traffic to other channels. I just set mine to rotate so I have no idea what comes up each time.

I totally forgot all about Featured Channels, I don't think it matters much unless there's some specific channel you want to personally feature, because there's the Related Channels section which shows channels which are similar to yours as seen by YouTube.. So I didn't see a point to use the Featured Channels function.
