External Mic Suggestions

OK I made the switch to using my GoPro Hero2 as my main camera. But since I ordered the Skeleton housing I will need an external mic to use with it. Just wondering what the community would suggest for this? I would prefer a non powered mic that just uses whatever it needs from the camera. I'm lazy and don't want to mess with carrying batteries for the mic when I already carry extra ones for the camera.

Thx in advance!

Yea that's the one I ended up ordering after I read some good reviews on it. Holy crap that cable is long! Any tips for corralling the extra?

its a great mic for the price, you will want to screw around with wind blocking though, that foam thing is ok but not great, I found a cut up piece of kitchen sponge with a zip tie has worked best for wind blocking and retaining audio pickup, ala our admin Dan.

The cable is a pain in the ass, i've READ of people cutting it and re soldering but never seen steps. I bought a spare one to hack up but ended up using it, haha.

The best way to mange it i've found is to wrap it all up with some velcro wraps (below), stick some fuzzy on the gopro housing and slap it on there, if its going to be bumpy a chicks hair elastic works perfect

Movo LV1 Lavalier Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone.

It's on amazon, it's like $17 and it sounds great.

I really like this mic! My buddy has one that he does some motovlogging with. I may go to that here shortly.

I also use the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone. I love it!

The drift mic is always the one that hits the spot for me.

I've tested a few and something always goes wrong with them
