While riding and enjoying the magnificent scenery I find that some highway engineer decided that 90° from straight is acceptable.

To be fair they did put in a run off and it lead back to where you needed to go. I think you took the nicer route :-D

I suspect that the road originally kept straight so that is why there is that T intersection.
Then someone with influence wanted the highway route to come their direction. So we get the curve in the T.

I am tempted to go back again and check further up the old road for signs of old stores and other commerce.

Wow, pucker moment! No signage, either! Around here, they'd have those yellow arrow signs pointing in the direction the main road went, or a sign with a diverting road on it or something. I mean, people would still miss that [unless their stupid phones told them], but I digress...

There is a brief sign at 16 seconds or so but it seems it is not that noticeable. Not like all like pictures here...

wow that is surreal! Rabbits/foxes is the only thing I have in terms of wild animals around my parts! Deer would be very rare! That's the thing about nice roads, big distraction from the dangers, never mind ignorant car drivers lol.
