Effective tagging

Hi guys I am rendering my first ever moto vlog have been riding and uploading a couple of videos but this will be my first Vlog. Can anyone shed some advice on tagging on YT as people like spicy110, BVG, ect... Their videos seem to be every ware, yet some videos you really have to search for. So my question is do you have to bombard the tagging with ever variant of word that has any resemblance to the vlog or is it more to do with the more the video is watch it is spread around?

I just have the video uploading preferences saved and just add few tags each time I upload something new. Things could include the camera you use, motorcycle your ride, software used to edit. Also, what's in the video - filtering, riding, vlogging, close calls, pedestrians etc. I just tag what I see and what people might look for. I usually have about 20 tags per video, maybe less.

I was told recently by an online marketing dude that YouTube tags are worthless now, and they make no difference. Not sure on the logic of that, so I still tag all my videos the same.

From what I understand from the innards of the YouTube docs, your tags are considered as being ordered from most relevant to least. In many situations, only the first one or two will have much impact.

As has often been said, motovlogging is a very minority part of the YouTube community and if you are doing it to get lots of subscribers and views, you're likely to be very disappointed. Unless you have a very unique or spectacular channel, it will take a long time to grow. Do it because you love to, not because you want lots of subs...

Thanks for your comments, seems like they don't do a lot really. I'm defiantly not doing it to just gain subscribers or boast. I like the communication and banter of it. I like to have comments and answer them and meet new people. Met a few local people so far! Motovloging, for me, is just something to do and keep me occupied now I have finished my college work
