Drift Owners Opinions Please

I am pretty sure my wife bought me a Drift Ghost HD (not the S) for my birthday coming up. I already have a GoPro and a Sony as100v which are both awesome. The problem with those cameras is that I feel when I am headed to work or for a quick ride they are too time consuming to put on the helmet and line up and everything. That why I mentioned the drift to her because I would like to record all the time just in case and the drift seems super quick to throw on and go.

Is that true? Is it really quick to take on and off when heading out and stuff? Basically I'm asking was it worth spending the money on a 3rd camera so I can have that ease of use or will I be in the same boat as before?

Drifts are awesome to clipping on, turn on and ride off!

I hate the Gopro for everyday use. You'll love the freedom of a drift

The Drift will be click and go once you've set the angle of the clip on the camera. The colour balance will be different to the others. If you've got the clip mount for a GoPro and you leave the arms on firmly tightened that should be OK too I'd have thought. Just a note, if using Chinese/non-gen GoPro hardware, rough the faces if the plates up with some fine sandpaper to stop them slipping.

That's exactly what I am wanting in a motovlog/ riding cam. I bought the other two cameras originally for off road use with my SUV which is great but I've noticed that using them on the helmet seems awkward and time consuming sometimes.

Maybe you could answer this but I also feel my current camera receive too much attention when I ride. I am thinking that the drift is less noticeable and people may just think its a bluetooth or something at first glance.

I have all OEM gopro parts and yeah I could leave them in position and just slip on but the problem is I don't trust co-workers so I have to remove and store in my carry bag and when storing at home it gets moved a lot as well. So it just becomes a hassle.

If you've a black or a dark helmet and set the screen to turn off, it would certainly be less noticeable. Can't avoid hiding it when in line with it, still sticks out a bit. Contour or Roadhawk would be slimmer, but I don't know anything about them.

I find most people simply ignore the drift but if I used my Gopro, it's like 'what the hells that'

I use my gopro for track stuff now

Yeah I get the same feeling with the GoPro as a matter of fact last time I used my GoPro on the way to work a cop spotlighted me and then flashed his blue lights I guess to warn me idk. I've watched a few vlogs of people using the drift and I don't think I've ever seen them interact with the public and have someone ask about them recording. People using GoPros or any other camera seem to have the fact they are recording noticed more than anything.

Hmm, what GoPro do you have, because I don't have to do that on any of mine.

I undo the clip on the helmet, and undo the clip on the case. That gives me the naked camera, the arms & case, and a helmet with just the sticky mount attached without ever messing up my angle by undoing bolts.

I have a hero 3 its not that it isn't possible its just that with my mic and the mount position I like I can't open when mounted because it pushes against the mic wire excess and the mount. That is why I am wanting the side mountable camera for easy use. I want the dummy proof style lol.

I've used both the GoPro and the Drift, and I prefer the Drift. It feels less bulky, and is more aerodynamic, so you don't notice it as much on your helmet. And as such, I also find it less obvious to onlookers. I think the GoPro is a great camera for mounting on the bike, but for the helmet, Drift is my choice.

I love the drift, it slips on and off the helmet no problems, just when you initially set it up on your lid mark the position of the lense so if you want to use the camera for other applications then you do not need to worry about getting the lense set up again for the bike

That was my thinking exactly. I hate obvious and awkward the gopro looks attached to my helmet when riding around town. The drift looks sleek and people don't notice or think its one of the bluetooth communicators or something.

My wife bought me a drift for my birthday so I should have it tomorrow which is a little early but still. I will now just work on other angles with the gopro and sony so the vlogs are more dynamic

Like most have already said, it takes literally a second to clip on. The mic's also very simple (in my case) to quickly put inside my helmet and go
