Does Monetization Increase Or Decrease Views?

So far I haven't monetized my videos (even though I can), but I'm wondering if that is the best choice. YouTube doesn't benefit from promoting non-monetized content, so I'm thinking that if the video is monetized the algorithm should prioritize it. Have anyone noticed something like that or read any up-to-date information on the subject?

I monetised mine, not seen a penny though lol, it takes a lot of views to get any. If I ever do then it'll help buy a new battery or memory card. I don't think it harms, but no idea if it helps either.

There's so many information on this subject, eventualy it starts to contradict eachother... Some say it does make a difference. Others say it doesn't...
When I get 10k views and my AdSense-account, I will definitly spill the info :)

you need 10 000 lifetime ;). I'm at 9200 due to some old videos, but I forgot to turn monetization on an old video and saw income. I guess they are lowering the required numbers. We will see. I've turned it on for my two new uploads.

Personally I would wait to monetize until I had a few videos nearing 10K views, because at that point you know you have a loyal following who will watch your stuff even if there are ads at the beginning. You might come off as greedy if you are only getting a few hundred per video and post ads.

BUT I've also heard of the prioritizing thing because YouTube wants to make money too. Makes sense to me! You could ask your viewers in the comments or at the end of one of your videos! It will not only boost your comment #s and thus make your video higher rated, but you can gain some insight from your fans! Waddya think!?;)

Just by monetizing the video does not guarantee YT will prioritize it in any way. Monetizing just means the video is eligible for putting ads on. How frequent ads run, or how many ads will run on the video, even if any ads will run at all, is determined by YT based on other factors, which I'm not clear exactly, my guess is the video reach, engagement, views, etc.

So, what harm does monetizing your video do to you? As far as I think of, absolutely nothing. YT only pays out whenever you reach the $100 minimum, so you can just let run and accumulate, consider it an incentive (not income) to use that money (whenever you get enough) to pay for new equipment/gear or service.

Youtube ads are more than accepted now so in the end it does nothing.

As SighBored said, its not going to change how your channel / videos are promoted as that's mostly up to you when you at such a small level.

I have one video over 10,000 views and a few that are nearing it. The one with most views I monetized late, and the later ones I monetized right away.

I've made a total of 46$ in almost 5 years. I don't really care about the money bit it is nice to think that in a couple years when I'm not expecting it, I will get a random 100$ cheque.

I also keep in mind that inflation is outpacing my income lol.

I don't think ads are too much of a turnoff to people and I think they are placed by how popular a video or channel are. If you are only getting a few views you might get some overlay ads and the 5-second skippable ones so it shouldn't be a huge deal.
