The first thing I did when I got my Drift was turn of the date/time stamp setting. Figured it would make the edited video a lot more seamless looking.

Yes and no.....

I have the time stamp switched on when recording, in case of accident / incident, then you have a time and date record for the video evidence.

However, in my published vlogs, I cover the time stamp over.

Unless it's a special date, I don't think it really adds anything to the video for a vlog.

And it also means you can use "old" material without it being too obvious ;)

I don't as I don't like them on the video, not doing a news report usually :)

As for the "evidential" purposes, as long as the camera's time is set right, then the file itself has a timestamp as all files get given a created and modified time, pretty much regardless of the device that created the file as it's part of file system protocol.

I would leave it off. Timestamps are meaningless unless you get in an accident. But even if you have it off the video file will give you an approximate time (unless your device date/time is not set correctly).

Yup, its included in the metadata of the file itself.

I leave it off on the drift because of editing but I have a roadhawk permanently fitted to the front of the bike that is time stamped for accidents... Sorry RTCs not accidents as the other guy is to blame ;)

I don't purely because if I overtake someone I'm speeding. Keeping up with traffic you're always speeding these days. I don't like the idea of helping people the know location, time and date of anything I do

ive always thought about time stamping but never actually done it. i guessit would only be useful in case of accident <3 X x

My Sony Action Cam store the timestamp and GPS info for speed / direction in a separate video data file. I render it on some but not all of my videos.

I don't. I don't like it to be in my videos and I don't want to bother with editing it out.
