Do You Always Have Your Camera On?

I feel like I always have to have my camera on and enough battery for the gopro when I am riding otherwise I could miss something exciting. hahaha.

Anyone else?

The other day I said screw it, and enjoyed a quick paced ride without my gopro.......then as soon as a squirel crossed my path, and then a momma duck and ducklings crossing the road, I was wishing I had the gopro because I could have turned that into an amusing vlog. lol

My simple response is:

you can delete footage you didn't need
you cannot create footage that you did need but the camera wasn't on :)

More connected thoughts - I have various ways to ensure battery life - I have a USB output on the bike and a 20 hour battery pack, AND spare batteries so that's no longer an issue. If on tour I bring the laptop and external drive and periodically transfer the files off the camera.

You can get decent batteries for so cheap these days so worth the punt of hunting on ebay.

The same for SD cards really. I tend to bin most of my footage if I'm wearing a cam

I think I have it on all the time.

But sometimes I get home and find out I didn't have it on, or it went flat, or it ran out of space.

I always have my camera running.
Last couple of weeks it is a bit harder considering my last few batteries are dying, so can only reach about 30 to 40 min at one battery.
But otherwise, always have it running.

Maybe not talking, but recording ;)

my batteries only last 30-40 min tops. even the original gopro battery.
I am debating running a cable to a battery pack. Do I need other equipment for that? is the draw from one of those enough to power the gopro?

I record in a different style to most it seems, and only record when I have something to show.

Normally a mountain pass :D

That is quite short then, an other reason not to choice GoPro it seems xD

Don't have it on all the time when I ride, mostly because of the limited space and battery. If it had looping record on it or something that would be awesome!

Edit :
Never mind it does have looping, awesome! Now I just need a bigger battery or more batteries =P

It's good to have it on and recording every time you're on the bike, but sometimes just can't help it and be lazy, or for the intention of saving battery juice. Storage should be an issue, the cards and small, light and not that costly, you can carry extras around.

I used to only film when I wanted to do a video, but ever since I crashed I film all the time. And hope the battery lasts

That's too short for a GoPro battery. Should be at least 1 hour. Are you recording at 60FPS or higher?

I record on loop

Mine is ALWAYS running. If im not vlogging I turn the quality settings down to save space and battery on my Sony action cam. The one time I didn't have it on I came across a random car on fire on the highway. True story. I think I still have the pics I took while waiting for the fire department that night

I always run my camera, in my car or on my motorcycle. It is a safety thing more than anything. If anything goes wrong and it isn't my fault at least I got some proof. There are way to many people out on the roads looking for a quick buck.
