General Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride Nashville 2018

R-Rated

Remember to Have Fun! - Solar Bear 2020 Champion
Just some highlights.

Overall, it was a great time. The temp got up to 95°F and nearly 99% of us stayed looking dapper. We had 120+ bikes rolling which seemed to go well enough.

I know there was a thread discussing bike restrictions but from what I could tell as long a you dressed and behaved the part then no problem as far as bikes went.

Interesting to see the Ride Guidelines being relaxed. The one near me is still very strict on the bikes it allows. Kind of stupid in my opinion. The rider attire should be the only part adhered to with it being a fundraiser and all. Mind you, my bike is acceptable, but I just never have the time to do this ride with the dates they choose every year.

You are so right about attire. I did not include it in this video but I ended up behind a fellow that stripped down to his tshirt and I watched the photographer shooting us from the top of a Jeep pulled up the camera when he was in the shot so as to not get him!

I kinda like the idea of it being restricted to certain bike types, I get that will mean a lot of folk can't take part and less money raised, but then not allowing cars also does the same. Folk can organise events that are open to all riders, but the DGR should have bikes that align with the ethos! :-)

I can see that point of view too but unfortunately there are only so many ways to configure two wheels and a gas tank. I saw a few Lord Vader look alike that had about 30 years on him. The bikes that got the most looks were survivors like old Goldwings pre-fairing days, the Honda Pacific coast, any scooter regardless of age/condition (learned Tall boy beer can can make muffler for 200cc rat scooter).

I will try to upload pics if it does not break the site again
