Dirty Secret Of Making Money On Your Videos???

hey all,
Just wanted to share the way I've made money on my motovlogging. I only made $2.85 through YouTube and have decided to turn my monetazaton off. I've made a few hundred dollars through Amazon associates with links to the products I'm using or talking about in the description though...

Here's how it works. You sign up with Amazon to be a kind of commissioned sales agent called an Amazon associate. Once you get that account set up then you can get custom links for almost any product Amazon sells. When someone clicks on that link and orders the product, you get between 4-9% commission that is paid out every month (you have to hit a $10 threshold to get it deposited but if you don't one month then it just accumulates in your account).

Here's an example on a GoPro ball joint attachment. My custom link is http://amzn.to/1qDrn4M and if you buy it from there I get about 50 cents of commission. You don't get commission for stuff you buy through your link and that's why it's proper eddicut to purchase through the link you find it from, congratulate the person who showed it to you!

Now 50 cents sounds like it isn't worth it but if you sell a $100 helmet then $5-6 sounds better...a $500 exhaust makes you $25-45... A $3000 gun safe will make a nice smile on your face with a couple hundred dollar commission.

Hope this helps y'all out a bit ;)

Seems like a good system. I believe this is how Tyler from Everide actually makes a living as a full time content creator

I have just started using amazon. EBay also has a program and there are other affiliate places you can generate income from, I also use Clixgalore, I used to have vinyl graphic store for cars and would make more money from Clixgalore then from sales. I had links for all sorts of accessories, apparel, car stereo systems etc. got heaps from leads and sales commissions. I plan to have a website to compliment my channel and include these in.

Is the link country specific? If my link connects to Amazon India and a guy in the US buy it from Amazon US, any idea what happens?

Thanks for the idea man! I buy everything from amazon. If you wanted, could you still monetize your videos while doing this? Or is not being partnered with youtube part of the deal?

Ive had guys from different countries buy through my links. Not sure how it looks on their end though. Click on one of the links above and let me know if the currency shows up right and what not

I've done it both ways and if you are making some money through YouTube, keep it monetized.

Part of it has to do with getting them there, and I'm not sure how that works. I have items I've sold that I haven't linked to so I guess it's like having a store where once they go there through the link then they search for something else and buy it, then you get the commission. Feel free to try it with me on your next purchase and I'll let you know. ;)

I'll try that. Thanks MrJoel! :D

where do you put the link in a card? also do you have to click on the content declaration?
I haven't figured out a way to do it in cards, just in the actual description. Just make mention of it in the video that they can find the product or your gear in the description sec
