DELETED!!! so many tears :-(

OK, so I thought that I would start to go through and edit some of the footage I have taken from the last few weeks and a couple of charity rides. Started to go through it all then thought, "I need to put all this stuff in one folder to keep it tidy"..... moved it all into one spot after creating a library folder and found that all it did was make a copy from it's original spot......or so I thought :-( Deleted that folder as I didn't see the need in having 2 copies of the same thing, only it wasn't a copy somehow I deleted all of the footage I have taken so far, about 7 hours of it.

Was a bit upset as I was planning to put out my first vlog this week. So I did what every sad and upset guy does in this situation. After work I jump on the bike and go for a ride. Got a few little clips that I will try to snip together for my first. It isn't what I had planned, but that is now dead and buried so time to start afresh.

Did you look in the rubbish bin?
There are programs out there to recover the info as well.

Yup, try downloading Seagate file recovery, it will take back to life your deleted files as long as you did not overwrite the free space left after erasing.
There is another free program called restoration. If you don't succeed with Seagate, ask me for a link to the other program.
Also, I do not think it is necessary to remind at this point how important it is to keep a backup of all media files from the camera, get an external 1tb hard drive and keep a mirror of your files.
For that, I recommend the verbatim store and go drive, it has 7 years of warranty. I bought 2 so far.

My biggest problem is that I am a little OCD when it comes to the "Rubbish Bin" I empty that shit as soon as it goes in there.
I thought about file recovery programs, I used to run a few way back in the day of XP but unless there are some major changes to them they require you to conduct a backup scan of the computer for them to be able to recover the deleted files.

I will give the Seagate file recovery a go and see what it can do for me. The bad thing is the computer has been used all day so I am doubtful that I will get anything back, but cant hurt to try.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah that sucks, I had some problems with old SD cars in one of my still cam's and lost a ton of photos, was able to recover but lots of damage to the images

If you keep your files on another drive, different from the one that the OS is installed in, you'll be able to recover everything.
"Deleting" a file only means marking the file as free space on an index table at the beginning of the hard drive. It will remain there as long as you don't write something on that new free space. Video files are big, up to 4GB each so it is unlikely that you overwrote such amount of data.
The only cumbersome step in recovering deleted files is that you need to copy them to another drive, for example, you get 32GB of deleted files back, you need another 32GB drive to copy them to. You cannot restore files on the same drive.

The Seagate File Recovery program is a paid one, if you want to try one for free, download and use this.

i'm soo carefull about that, i always triple check before i delete stuff, because i've deleted so many good stuffs in the past lol

Give PhotoRec a try. I used to work in Computer Forensics and as long as you stop using the hard drive straight away you will easily get ti all back.

The more you use the drive, the less you are likely to recover.
