Deer Warnings on Motorcycles

What do you all think about putting a deer warning accessory on your motorcycle? I know I plan on it, because the deer here in Arkansas can jump out into the road when I least expect it. I think it can save a lot of money in repairs if those are on, what do you all think? I am probably going to put them on my front fender or right under the front fairing.

Thanks for replying. Well so far as I am concerned, they have worked on my vehicle, and I am looking forward to trying them on my motorcycle. I saw this one youtuber that was reviewing it at:

with a van and this guy's motorcycle. I want to do more research into it as well.

I use a deer whistle during the winter months, it just makes them stand still, worth a couple of quid, stick them under your fairing, you cant hear them.

Kevin, thanks for the advice. It seems that I have to be prepared for anything here in Arkansas, no matter what the season is, since the temperature varies sometimes, it changes from one day like a spring day, to the next it could be summer, or the next day could be fall, or the next day could be winter. LOL! Mother Nature has a hard time making up her mind in Arkansas for weeks on end. LOL! I was thinking about putting them on the fairing underneath the headlight, or maybe on either side underneath on the fairing below the mirrors. Do you think that is a better option than putting them underneath the headlight fairing?

Because that doesn't really work all that well. I had a very loud D&D pipe on the VFR when I was hit by a deer a few years ago, and the number of animals that hear my twin half-length D&Ds now don't seem to care either way.

Yeah, it is amazing that they run in front of a motorcycle instead of away.

Deer horns (what we call them) were all the rage back in the 1980s here, but they were proven to be ineffective, so no one uses them anymore.

Thanks for the article. I wondered if they are effective or not, but as far as I am concerned, it is I guess better to be safe than sorry, especially here in Arkansas where deer can run out in the road on a constant basis. I was wondering if they even made a deer warning that is actually effective, or just like to prove it wrong in the meantime, and yet not offer a different alternative it looks like from this article that is out on the market today. I often wonder why there is research that proves it is ineffective, yet it seems to work for me so far in a car. One person that works with me says he sees a lot of them in the road when he goes home after he works the same shift as I do every day during the week. He says he has deer warnings on his vehicle and the deer pretty much are startled when they hear it, and do not come on to the road, and he also honks his horn as well to scare them as well.

No problem, cheap enough, and they do work with all kinds of wildlife that race out in front of you otherwise. The animal will just stop and freeze, giving you that half second to save your skin. And yes, they have sticky pads, so you can put them under the fairing or anywhere they can get airflow. I just feel they are essential for night rides and deer infested areas... it's just a matter of stacking the odds in your favour.

Arkansas sounds a hell of a place to ride a bike, I bet the learning curve is steep lol

I remember when I was a kid, we had deer horns on our car and a deer ran out right in front of us .

Also, in all my years of driving, I only had one time where I actually had to swerve to miss a couple of deer. The rest, they are just stupid and run across the road down a ways. Nature of the beast, I guess .....

(we have so many deer up here, too - so many that for a few years the Game & Parks Commission gave out unlimited deer hunting permits to thin out the population.....)
